Photo of the Weeek: Eurowings unusual departure...
Eurowings returned this week for the winter season. After a first flight, last Wednesday, from Cologne, yesterday we had another fligth from that german city.
With runway 23, afternoon take-offs are usually interesting but this one was more interesting than usual...the passengers had a scenic departure back to Germany...
The plane was a former Air Berlin B738, D-ABAF
For the departure, the pilot requested a right turn after take off...the ATC was a bit confused, stating that right turns after take-off weren't allowed due terrain...but after explained the safety level before turning, the ATC allowed it...

Was expecting a SATA like departure, with a scenic view crossing the island to the north and then to the next waypoint but they returned east north of the airport into the next waypoint, over the island on what was probably a great sight for the passengers...
