19340 e 19376 dos Rotores de Portugal na Madeira, em 2010 O Ministério da Defesa Nacional anunciou ontem a autorização do Ministro da Defesa Nacional para a alienação dos Alouette III ainda ao serviço e aquisição de 5 novos helicópteros ligeiros monomotores para sua substituição, que deverá ocorrer entre 2018 e 2020. Ver nota do MDN AQUI Um aparelho icónico, que evoca grandes feitos ao serviço de Portugal desde os tempos da Guerra no Ultramar até aos dias de hoje, mais de 50 anos depois, deixar-me-á igualmente uma marca indelével pela oportunidade de efectuar um voo no mesmo nos céus do Porto Santo 2010...grandes momentos!

Para foto da semana, um registo de 2010 que, não sendo novo por cá, foi o que me veio à mente instantaneamente quando pensei no assunto... Al.III 19376 dos Rotores de Portugal, aterrando em Câmara de Lobos. 28.Jun.2010

Como ainda hoje falávamos no Alouette III e em jeito de homenagem aos excelentes serviços que esta máquina (e todos os que as têm operado e mantido), fica o destaque da semana, num registo que ainda não tinha publicado, obtido em 2010, na Madeira, aquando dos treinos dos Rotores de Portugal, em frente ao Aeroporto da Madeira, durante as Comemorações da Força Aérea 2010, que decorreram na Região. Fica um abraço especial a todo o pessoal da 552, que tivemos oportunidade de acompanhar nesses dias. Obrigado por tudo.

New Year, new header for the Blog... Happy New Year 2014 for everyone! A couple of Portuguese Air Force Alouette III from helicopter display team "Rotores de Portugal" during the first Madeira-Porto Santo flight made by these helicopters, back in 2010.

A Esquadra 552 da Força Aérea Portuguesa assinalada hoje os 50 anos de serviço do Alouette III, em Beja - BA11 Como pequena homenagem a estas máquinas e aos homens/mulheres que as têm operado ao longo dos anos, fica a foto da semana: PARABÉNS!

Num fim de semana em que o panorama aeronáutico nacional ficou marcado pela notícia que dá conta da desistência de Portugal do programa para equipar Exército com o NH-90, achei que seria uma excelente altura para homenagear o zingarelho com mais anos de serviço em Portugal, relembrando, com algumas poucas fotos, a passagem dos Rotores de Portugal pela Madeira (Câmara de Lobos) Afinal de contas, ao serviço com a Força Aérea Portuguesa desde 1963, foram um dos ícones da Guerra Colonial e agora, quase 50 anos depois ainda continuam aí "para as curvas" assegurando a missão, juntamente com todos aqueles que com ele têm prestado serviço ao longo destes anos... Confesso que da forma como as coisas estão, o Alouette III parece vir a ser obrigado a prestar outros 50 anos de serviço.... Chegada à praia de Câmara de Lobos sob condições de forte vento...(quem os viu aterrar  ali naquele pequeno espaço, nem diria....) 19376 19401

Neste dia de Portugal, suponho que nada melhor do que partilhar uma foto que eleve as cores e o espírito Nacional...(que bem precisa...) A juntar isso, o extra da Praia do Porto Santo (na foto) ser uma das candidatas às 7 Maravilhas de Portugal, Praias...(que bem merece...) Rotores de Portugal assinalando a sua chegada ao Porto Santo com fumos, após a primeira travessia Madeira-Porto Santo efectuada em Alouette III, durante as comemorações FAP 2010... Um dos grandes momentos na minha "carreira" de spotter, a possibilidade de poder acompanhar esta travessia, a bordo do EH-101 que fez o apoio SAR

19401 This weekend would usually be the one when Portugal Air Show would take place... After the last edition had many problems, this year it didn't took place at all... Also, the choice of this pic wasn't "innocent"...in 2005 I had the oportunity to photograph, for the first time, the Portuguese Air Force display team "Rotores de Portugal", on that year's PAS edition... This year, there isn't any Rotores also... It's a post in a bit of a dark mood with all those endings but recent events show that things are far from having reached the bottom, specially in Madeira, were recent news show that the situation is even worst than the worst expectations...

This week was intending to choose some pic of the C-295 or Aviocar at AM3 - Porto Santo but yesterday, definitely had to choose this one.... This pics has already been Photo of the Week but yesterday, my wife got me a special birthday cake.....LOL My daughter is used to have birthday cakes themed after Barbies, Winx's and every other animated caracters, and when adults made birthday's she allways got disapointed because the cakes are usually plain simple... LOL, this time my wife surprised me with this one, and what a well choosen pic it was... This was definitely one of the best moments this year (the whole week)! Thanks!!

This week, another pic of the Rotores de Portugal as Photo of the Week . Was going to choose some other pics so you would't get  photos of the Rotores 2 weeks in a row but, today, the number 2 (Lt. Paulo Melo) and the PR of the Rotores shared at Facebook an Air Force video regarding the presence of Rotores the Portugal at Madeira, during PoAF Celebrations 2010 . The first time I flew an helicopter was during the Portuguese Air Force Celebrations 2010 , that took place at Madeira. In a fantastic oportunity given by the PoAF, we managed to be on board the EH-101 that was providing SAR following to the ferry flight of the Rotores de Portugal, from Madeira to Porto Santo. This was also the helicopter used by PoAF media to register the trip....the first one made in AL.III between the two islands. The EH was the 19605 After take-off (and a nice departure, nose down into the runway), we proceeded to an orbiting patern, abeam the airport, while waiting for the departure of the 3 Alouette's of the Rotores de Portugal. Nice banking...check the artificial horizont While waiting took the oportunity for some shots of the airport.... We made the all flight in formation with the 3 Alouette's of the Rotores the Portugal but, during almost all the flight, the main doors were open for the fotages of the Air Force media department and we had ...

This photo of the Week was one of the great experiences I had, during PoAF Celebrations 2010. The flight baptisms in Alouette III at Porto Santo were made by "Rotores de Portugal" The three helos took off in line and went for the flight. I was quite focused in taking photos to the front of the helicopter when I noticed 19340 approaching us by the right. After a moment we made a 360 with the other Al.III in close formation with us, allowing me to make some really nice shots.... A Big Thanks to the guys at Rotores, an amazing experience!

Last week, like I already said was a fantastic one. With Portuguese Air Force Celebrations beeing held at Madeira, for the first time, we managed to get right in the middle of it, specially regarding the Sqn.552 and Rotores de Portugal activities. The Alouette III is one of those helos that allways had a special meaning to me and last week had the fantastic oportunity to fly in one of them! Took lots and lots of pics, which will post later. For now, the pic of the Week, and a special thanks to the Portuguese Air Force, to Maj. Raposo, Lt.Eliana and all the guys of 552 and Rotores de Portugal!

This Week, the Portuguese Air Force took it's Celebrations during 2 days to Porto Santo. The "Rotores de Portugal" were at that island for a couple of days and we got the fantastic oportunity of joining to the Air Force during those days... This Week's photo is dedicated not to the machines but to the men (and women) that make this display team. Also a special reference to the other guys of 552 that are in Madeira and to the Portuguese Air Force members that made possible the following of these celebrations closer than I had ever thinked. Ontem os Rotores de Portugal estiveram na cidade de Câmara de Lobos, onde fizeram as delícias dos presentes, ao longo do dia. A totalidade das Fotos desse dia está disponível AQUI A chegada deu-se pouco depois do meio-dia, com os três Alouettes (2 efectivos e 1 de reserva) a fazerem-se notar pela cidade numa passagem sobre a mesma, antes de aterrarem numa pequena zona cimentada, na Praia do Vigário. Apesar do forte vento e do espaço não ser abundante, especialmente para três aparelhos, a aterragem fez-se sem qualquer problema. Após a saída do pessoal da manutenção e outros elementos da equipa, os 2 Alouettes dos Rotores partiram para uma pequena secção de treino e habituação ao local, com o vento a não facilitar a tarefa. Entretanto, era hora de almoço e fazer um pouco de Relações Públicas junto das entidades locais.
