Runway 23 brigde

Imagem
A spot I don't use much...the walking bridge near runway 23 treshold... It's really a nice spot to be near the planes and try some shots like this as it is a place used by many spotters and specially tourists for its proximity to planes, landing and linning up.. Rampas...a spotting location

From yesterday, one of the most famous spotting locations at Madeira Airport, with Easyjet A320 OE-INH arriving from Lisbon. Known to local spotters as "rampas", it's a great place with runway 05 in use, in the afternoon, for the landings and the line up on that runway, for take-off. It's also a good place for runway 23 late take-offs or runway 23 arrival for the entry to the apron, also on the afternoon. Check more info on this at Spotters Guide, HERE It's spot #2

Spotter

Not many female plane spotters around here... Well....these days, not many foreign spotters at all...so, allways a great sight to see other spotters at Madeira... Taken last March, 20th, a foreign spotter, with its also spotter boyfriend, making some shots, on the TAP retro. Check that arrival HERE Check the other special flight of the day, TAP's A320NEO with Star Alliance livery, HERE

Spotter...

From the day we got Brussels Smurfs (check HERE), a shot that ilustrates how nice it is this spotting location. The "rampas" This is 1 of 2 local roads behind the airport, with public access and a great view, (on the afternoon, for photographing) over Madeira's airport apron, runway 05 landing's or runway 23 take-off's Google Maps :  32.692648, -16.782913

Little Spotters...

Imagem
Yesterday had a really nice morning of spotting... Traffic was really nice and there was a really nice group of spotters to hang around and chat all morning long... Even if some of the pics got really crappy...who cares?! It was quality time... (one old lady even came to ask us if anyone important was to come...she's only used to that much photographers  when some VIP arrives at the airport....LOL) Anyway pic planes will be coming next days...for now just this one: Looks like someone else was also having a blast, watching the planes... ;) This kind of situation allways reminds me these 2 pics (Check HERE and HERE ) of old days... Despite the balcony and the clothings are diferent and although aviation is not that far and unknown these days, the magic is still there and the dreams still take-off with the planes... Enjoy kids!

New Photo of the Week - Spotting a Lisbon Tram....

Imagem
This week, for the first time (I think....) the Photo of the Week won't be about planes. Was looking at some vacation pics and found this one. Looked like the right pic to play around a little bit in Photoshop. Usually I don't give much post-processing to the pics I take. Some leveling, sharp and sometimes a little bit of color correction, before rezising for the web In my opinion, for my kind of Aircraft Spotting photography if the pic needs too much work in PS then it's a crappy one and I don't use it, unless it's something really special or rare. The other reason to choose this pic was to call the attention to other kinds of spotting. Last week, a national newspaper published a small article on the spotters and the planes that were coming to the Lisbon NATO summit... Looks like it's common to think that only the guys that photograph planes are spotters... Well, there are all kind of spotting, planes, ships, trains, etc...and you don't really ...
