A few shots of Ukrainian Airlines at Madeira (at least from the ones I got....there may have been a few more around here...) Last monday we had the return of Ukraine International Airlines, after a few year without flying to Madeira. The flight from Kiev was carried through with UR-PSM B738, a former Norwegian Air Shuttle plane. The departure, from runway 05 It was a windy day with a few planes diverting to Porto Santo, before arriving at Madeira but the crew managed a clean landing despite the winds on final (over the runway, it was quite steady on the runway course) Taxiing for the return...

UR-PSD, Ukraine International Airlines B738 on final to runway 05 Not many Ukraine traffic around here but recently became a fan of an Ukranian metal Band: IGNEA  and decided to check what traffic I had from this country... Ukraine International Airlines made a few flights back in 2011, arriving allways on last sunlight or already at dusk...still, got this one in some nice light... Regarding IGNEA, I guess they're still pretty unknown with only 1 album (and another under other name), with no label and doing stuff by their own, it's a struggle, specially for a band from Ukraine... I do find the versatility of their singer amazing, with some nice clean voice that quickly changes for the gutural and back to clean in the glimps of an eye... check her FB page HERE First music of them that got my atention was "Alga" (check HERE )...metal played together with a Symphonic Orchestra and a front woman is my kind of music :) Then I checked a more heavier record...great music...

Yesterday, we had Ukraine International back to the flights from Kiev. Not sure how many flight will they make but it won't be many so, despite the time of arrival wasn't the best, decided to go.... UR-PSC landing on 05 On Alpha 5, with a TAP taxiing on the back to runway 05 not an usual rest place for this crewmember... getting the push-back in place... Cleared to taxi, runway 05

Big sunny summer days are allways nice...if well spent, they let you do an all lot of stuff... Yesterday, after work, beach and some more family time, there was still 20 minutes for some spotting, to get the late afternoon traffic with that real nice golden light typical for that time of the day... (although, at Madeira airport, the sun still goes behind the mountains a bit high...) The most expected catch was the Ukrain International Airlines B737, arriving from Kiev... Only had got it once and the time of its arrival is just on the edge of good light or total darkness.... This day, I was luck...no clouds and it arrived just in time for the last light.... (5 mins. earlier would be just perfect...oh well...) the same registration I had already got: UR-PSD this time I managed to get the beacon without too many tries... Anyway, while waiting for the Ukraine, took the time to get the other traffic that was around...nothing too exciting but with this kind of light,...

Today we had an unexpected (for me) premiere at Madeira. If it weren't the other spotters calling my attention for this, I wouldn't even knew they were coming. (The good think about not beeing many... we can allways sms to each others for this stuff and allways warn each other) Anyway, Ukraine International Airlines (or as P.O. would write... Международные Авиалинии Украины)   was schedulled to arrive from Kiev on a bad time, in the beggining of the evening... Luckily, it got to our island just a little bit earlier than that. The light wasn't that good but, at least there was some light.... The circuit was made on a unusual and short way...with the last rays of sun  on the 737 while on final to runway 05 over the runway, there wasn't any sun already....ISO400 and trying a balance of speed/aperture.... UR-PSD smoking it's landing, but a very nice landing, considering the kind of approach it made... For the take-off we went to the terminal balcon...
