Planes and stuff

Ontem, a cantora Sofia Escobar, juntamente com elementos da Associação Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, deu um concerto na Avenida Arriaga, integrado na Feira do Livro do Funchal 2023. É sempre fantástico ter o privilégio de ouvir as suas atuações e, melhor que algumas fotos, seria mesmo um registo vídeo com o som devidamente captado mas, sendo rapaz de fotografia, cá ficam alguns registos dessa atuação. É um tipo de fotografia pelo qual tenho bastante interesse mas que pratico muito pouco...tirei milhentas fotos, aproveitei algumas e infelizmente falhei muitas em que a expressão da cantora valia bem o registo focado... Os constituintes da orquestra mereciam igualmente alguns registos mais inclusivos mas, tendo chegado já após o início do concerto, não houve grandes hipóteses senão focar-me na Sofia Escobar, por entre as cabeças...

UR-PSD, Ukraine International Airlines B738 on final to runway 05 Not many Ukraine traffic around here but recently became a fan of an Ukranian metal Band: IGNEA  and decided to check what traffic I had from this country... Ukraine International Airlines made a few flights back in 2011, arriving allways on last sunlight or already at dusk...still, got this one in some nice light... Regarding IGNEA, I guess they're still pretty unknown with only 1 album (and another under other name), with no label and doing stuff by their own, it's a struggle, specially for a band from Ukraine... I do find the versatility of their singer amazing, with some nice clean voice that quickly changes for the gutural and back to clean in the glimps of an eye... check her FB page HERE First music of them that got my atention was "Alga" (check HERE )...metal played together with a Symphonic Orchestra and a front woman is my kind of music :) Then I checked a more heavier record...great music...

A bit of stuff...for a change on planes... Not a big Eurovision song contest show fan (hell...not a fan at all...) but as it took place in Portugal, decided to see the final... Won't even comment the winnner...nor the Portuguese song... Definitely loved the Estonia song...I know it's probably not that kind of contest type of song but it was really amazing...the voice, the music and the presentation and light show on her dress....Top indeed! Congratulations Estonia (and Elina Nechayeva)

Time for some "stuff...." Por estes dias, os Nightwish anunciaram algo que eventualmente já se esperava há algum tempo, a Floor Jansen, vocalista que veio substituir a Jeanette Olsson, passará a ser a nova vocalista permanente do grupo (juntamente com o músico  Troy Donockley, que assegura os instrumentos de sopro e vocais de apoio) . Dá minha parte, é uma excelente notícia, já que nunca fui fã da Jeanette e a Floor tem um tipo de vocais (e presença em palco) que traz os Nightwish para bem perto daquilo que me fizeram ser seu fã... Fica um vídeo da actuação dos Nighwith com a Floor em Buenos Aires, no ano passado, numa das minhas músicas preferidas deles....

Há quem diga que tenho um gosto musical bastante alternativo...embora isso normalmente venha de pessoas com gostos musicais bastante tradicionais e/ou comerciais. Na verdade, gosto um pouco de quase todo o tipo de música desde a clássica ao metal, e em especial à mistura de ambos os géneros. Confesso que gosto particularmente de misturas entre tipos improváveis de musicas, das quais resultam sonoridades diferentes... Um excelente caso desse tipo de música são os Suíços, Eluveitie , uma banda de Folk Metal... A música Omnos é um excelente exemplo de como estas diferentes musicalidades se combinam de forma bastante interessante...

Depois de uma excelente manhã de praia, com as "marias" a tomar banho e qualquer coisa ao lume para desenrascar almoço, calha bem um "I get around" dos Beach Boys.... ;)

Been earing today Tarja Turunen's (former Nightwish) new album. Sound really nice and (in my opinion) a lot better than her first solo album.

Was just listening to some oldies and decided to share this one, one of my favs. (both the music and the vídeo)

and counting... This one was released in 1975 but was one of 1976 Top's and it's definitely one of my favs. of all times... HB to me...lol

Just sitting in front of the Discovery Turbo as it starts another episode of "Metal in the Air", presented by Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of the Iron Maiden and also an Astreus captain... :) It's a rather interesting program and its presentation makes it everything but dull. Anyway, when I was younger, Iron Maiden was one of my favorite bands, although I was more interested in Steve Harris bass playing than Dickinson's singing... Don't really know what my fav, song was but today, I'll share this one... (looking at this it doesn't really seem like a trustfull captain to fly with...hehe!!)

Not really in the mood for posting any pics... I'm just "surfing" the web while listening some calm and relaxing music of one of the singers I've been listening lately...

While processing the last photos on the Belair 767, was listening some of my favorite, from several groups/artists... My musical tastes goes from classical to heavy metal passing through regular "commercial" music... One of those I was listening was one of my favorite songs from what used to be my favorite band...Nightwish... (Used to be my fav. when Tarja was the singer...definitely the Nightwish + Anette (new singer) is less my kind of music...) This video's from their last concert with Tarja as a singer... Got curious and searched the same song with Anette singing...Argh...awfull, she definitely shouldn't try to sing songs that were obviously written for Tarja...
