Photo of the Week: Belgium Red Devils...

Imagem
Finally, almost 7 months after Brussels Airlines premiere at Madeira, we got one of its A320 and more importante one of the most beautifull special liveries (personal opinion) they have on those planes.... The closing of Thomas Cook Belgium and integration of its operations into Brussels Airlines made possible the second weekly flight from Brussels to Madeira, operated by this airline. Having a Saturday flight to our island carried trough by A319, they started a new weekly route from the Belgian capital, this time with an Airbus A320 and the start was in big :) (opposite to the lack of view of some other "cheap" airline that also started flying to Madeira that day....) unfortunately a runway 23 landing, with the plane arriving in front of us almost stopped.... entering the aprong.... great painting job, indeed..... go pro on board? I left right after their arrival but as far as I've seen from other spotters pics, a great crew indeed...nice one, Brusse

Remembering Air Berlin

Imagem
Air Berlin made its last flight yesterday...the farewell to an airline that I was used to see around here for many years and definitely one with an important role on Madeira Tourism. Saw it with Boeing and with Airbus, with narrow-bodies and wide-bodies...it was one of the few airlines that, at some point had some regular wide-bodies fligths to Madeira... Bye bye Air Berlin...and the best of luck for all your employees... A few shots of Air Berlin at Madeira during my spotting sessons...maybe not my best shots nor the most important but tryed to go for a wide selections of types, colors and ocasions.... Check all Air Berlin pic's I've published on the blog, HERE  B738 D-ABME with the One World livery take-off, with an amazing rainbow May, 2014 a dificult catch....we waited about 2 years for the oportunity of getting D-ABDU, with the Etihad special livery... The Swiss Easyjet

Finally after after about a year, managed to get my first Easyjet Switzerland.... A320 HB-JXB pushing back for the departure to Basel On the apron, a bunch of 737's...Primera YL-PSF, Tuifly D-AHFW and Enter Air SP-ESA

Photo of the Week: My farewell to Air Berlin

Imagem
Despite we will still have a few more Air Berlin flights during next week, today was most probably my last oportunity to photograph the Air Berlin before the scheduled shut as from Oct.28th 2017... A320 D-ABFG arriving from Berlin-Tegel A321 OE-LCC preparing to return to Munich The stickers resume pretty much the last days of operation to Madeira...Niki callsign, Austrian registration and Niki stickers....I guess not much of Air Berlin left, just the main titles on the fuselage...

TAP na final

Imagem

Primera

Imagem
There isn't a single time I see a Primera that I don't remember the first time they came to Madeira (JetX back then...)...what a run...after an in extremis photos, realised that I had not card in the camera.... :) Long were those days, and now I don't really rush to the airport just for a Primera ...but still, it's very nice to catch one...it's been a long time since I last photographed it.... This one was photographed on the day of the Novair A321NEO first flight to Madeira (check HERE ) starting push-back to runway 23 B738 YL-PSB departing from runway 23

Operação Estrelícia 2017..o "Pikeno"

Imagem

Photo of the Week: The almost gone canadian

Imagem
You know you're getting lazy on the pics when you realise you are about to delete a card with the pics of a one time catch and still haven't copied them to you HDD....almost one month later... Still, managed to save them... Tui Nederlands (Arke) made some flights to Madeira using Sunwing hybrid planes. Already had caught C-FTOH (check HERE ) but after spotting C-GOWG over Amsterdam (high on the sky) they finally brought it to Madeira at least a couple of times...got it once... Landing on 05 A colorful TUI apron :) (Tuifly's CEWE, D-ATUH still with the white nose, after its birdstrike the previous week, at Madeira)

Q400 da Sata

Imagem

Novair: Double premiere

Imagem
Yesterday we had Novair for the first time at Madeira, which makes it a double premiere as it was also the first time we had the A321 NEO here! Arriving from Stockholm Arlanda around lunch time (crappy light time.....) on runway 23.... ...and taxiing to the apron through taxiway "Charlie" Those engines look really nice :)  The departure back to ARN was on a positioned flight, also from runway 23

Foto da Semana: "Ponte Aérea"

Imagem

Monarch ceased operations.....

Imagem
One year after beeing in a dificult situation, looks like Monarch has really hit the end... Monarch has confirmed that the following companies have ceased trading and now entered administration: Monarch Airlines Ltd Monarch Holidays Ltd (ATOL Number 2275) First Aviation Ltd (ATOL Number 4888) previously trading as Monarch Airlines Avro Ltd (ATOL Number 1939) Somewhere2stay Ltd Other airline planes are beeing positioned to retrieve the passengers abroad. A320 G-ZBAP landing at Madeira's runway 05 This was taken one year ago, when it seemed like it would be its lasts flights.... Managed to keep flying for one more year, but now it looks like it's really the end of the line for Monarch....
