Planes and stuff

 Finally some sun for this one... Brussels Airlines brought A320 OO-SBB Tomorrowland livery for the the return to Madeira. The first flight of this return was carried by this special livery. Unfortunatelly, it was quite dark and rainy....managed some shots (HERE) but definitelyt, it shines a lot more with a sunny afternoon... Entering the stand, with Condor A320 D-AIAI from/to Dusseldorf and F-HTVV, from/to Nantes. A bit of an overview...

 An overview at Madeira Airport (FNC/LPMA), with a TAP A320 landing on runway 23 and a TAP Express Embraer holding short off runway 23, on taxyway Bravo Despite the general bad quality of the pic, trought the window, it was quite a beautiful day and an amazingly calm sea where even the airport columns were reflecting...

 Um registo obtido à saída de LPMA, num fantástico dia de sol e poucas nuvens, em que quase dava para meter a ilha toda no enquadramento, com o aeroporto da Madeira em primeiro plano, o Funchal ao fundo, na costa sul e a costa norte também descoberta de nuvens, tal como o maciço central onde (na versão original, pelo menos...) é visível o radar do Pico do Areeiro e as eólicas do Paúl da Serra... Achei curioso a forma como, no vale de Machico, a construção parece escorrer pelo vale, até ao mar...

Back to July, an overview, on a day planes were beeing diverted from Madeira, probably due to wind out of limits...can't remember...(could be visibility but, more probably, winds...)

Primeira sessão de spotting do ano...com o objetivo de apanhar o primeiro dos A339, CS-TUN, ao final da tarde, a luz já se tinha ido e acabou por transformar-se numa pequena sessão de pannings, a subir o ISO cada vez mais, à falta de melhor. Com a boleia à espera, mesmo sem tripé, fiz este registo com a placa bem composta...ficou colorido, pelo menos... Bom 2024 a todos!

Back to April, a nice colorful apron, with some dark background... Also, the presence of a Trade Air which isn't that common at Madeira.

 A few shots of Ryanair B738 EI-GXI at Madeira, on its night-stop, after the flight from Lisbon, with the maintenance still working on the plane. With TAP's A320 CS-TNJ arriving from Lisbon, on the back A bit of an overview with the main reason for my trip to the airport, on the left...Nigeria Air Force Falcon 7X 5N-FGU, on a technical stop. 2004 was the year I started trying to photograph aviation on a more regular basis. Didn't knew much of photography (still don't...) the material was defnitely not the best (still isn't...it's a hobby...) but had lot of will to try, learn and get as much as I could... Still, during the month of June 2004, only went to the airport on June 1st...not much traffic but this overview had a nice nostalgia.... Aerocondor still existed and made the FNC-PXO-FNC flighs, with the Shorts 360 (CS-TMN). TAP still had the previous colors...A320 CS-TNA (scrapped in 2021) There was that BRA, the brazilian airline that stopped operations in 2010. The plane, PR-BRY, a B733, operated in a few portuguese airlines...TAP, Air Columbus, Euroatlantic and other airlines....current status is stored, according to Airfleets...

  From yesterday, one of the most famous spotting locations at Madeira Airport, with Easyjet A320 OE-INH arriving from Lisbon. Known to local spotters as "rampas", it's a great place with runway 05 in use, in the afternoon, for the landings and the line up on that runway, for take-off. It's also a good place for runway 23 late take-offs or runway 23 arrival for the entry to the apron, also on the afternoon. Check more info on this at Spotters Guide, HERE It's spot #2

Ontem tivemos uma das melhores estreias dos últimos tempos, o A339NEO da Hifly, que efetuou um par de voos charter de final de ano, a partir de Lisboa (e mais outro hoje). Não tive oportunidade de fazer uns cliques ao voo de estreia (da manhã) mas, lá deu para apanhar a chegada da tarde, numa sempre interessante pista 23, tal como quase se consegue perceber nos reflexos sob a fuselagem :) Mais 3 registos da chegada...se destas 3 primeira desse para fazer uma única, com o beacon, o avião com os trens a roçar (opticamente...) o início da pista e os reflexos, teria sido fantástico :) :) O toque acabou por ser provavelmente afetado por algum vento.... Uma placa bem composta e com alguns aparelhos pouco habituais, como o Trade Air (em night-stop) e o A320 Sata, que efetuou igualmente um par de voos charter do continente juntamente com o irmão A321, que efetuou outros 2 voos Infelizmente, mercê do atraso, a descolagem seria efetuada já sem luz na pista e com apenas alguns últimos e tímidos r...

Today went to the airport to get former Tuifly special livery D-ATUI with its new British registration, on duty with Tui Airways and the apron had a few more than usual bizjets...(and another one arrived later...)

Para quem nunca tinha visto um A400 ao vivo, este sítio é de rebentar a escala, com A400 aos montes, para todos os gostos....Alemães, Britânicos, Espanhóis, pintados e por pintar, motorizados e em modo "planador" :) Apesar das distância a que estavam e calor que se fazia sentir, valeu o pequeno desvio....

Ultimamente as publicações têm sido escassas...as idas ao aeroporto também mas, não queria finalizar o ano sem uma última publicação, desejando a todos os que ainda passam por cá, umas boas entradas em 2018! Esperemos que no início do ano lá meta uns registos dos 330's da TAP que estão previstos nos primeiros dias do ano e o habitual tópico com os destaques de 2017. Bom ano a todos! Registo obtido a partir dos restos do antigo Noratlas 6419 em direcção à final da 23. Estes restos estiveram durante vários anos na Água de Pena, após atentado à bomba no aeroporto da Madeira, por parte da FLAMA, a 13 de Novembro de 1975

After last week's pic of Porto Santo terminal overview, this week the highlighted Photo of the Week will be of a Madeira Airport overview, taken from Pico do Facho, with runway 23 right in front... Notice the Easyjet taking off? Also quite noticeable are lenght increasing of the original runway wich ended somewhere in the grassed zone...
