Planes and stuff

Yesterday night, Swiftair maintenance (or the company providing it at Madeira...) was still working on the ATR-72 EC-MAF engine, after a rejected take-off, last Friday, on the departure back to Lisbon. When I got to the airport, the airplane was beeing towed back to the stand (suppose it went for some engine tests)...

The ATR's of the house at Madeira... Binter ATR-72, based at FNC for the Madeira - Porto Santo route (with trips mid-day to the Canary islands, where they usually change crew and sometimes the plane) and Swiftair cargo ATR, used on the daily cargo flights between Lisbon and Madeira. EC-NJK pushing back to runway 23 While EC-LYJ arrives from Lisbon, also on runway 23 Curiously, the first time I publish a pic of any of these registrations...

Têm sido poucas as fotos que tenho feito ao pequno Tecnam P2002 do Aeroclube da Madeira. Ficam alguns registos da chegada desse aparelho, no dia em que fiz as primeiras fotos ao retro da Transavia ( AQUI ), tendo ficado parqueado num stand pouco habitual... EC-MQY a chegar ao stand... Umas espreitadelas para o motor.... e a chegada do voo diário de carga, de Lisboa, com o EC-LYJ, um registo que ainda não tinha fotografado... Curiosamente 2 registos espanhóis e uma prova de que o tamanho é relativo...o ATR parece enorme, perto do Tecnam :) 

Um par de registos do mais recente aparelho de transporte da Força Aérea Portuguesa, o KC-390 26901, operado pela Esq.506 - Rinocerontes, a chegar de Lisboa, esta semana.

  Traffic of the year, until now...not doubt... Royal Canadian Air Force C-17A 177705 at Madeira, today. Arrived from Gibraltar and, after less than 2 hours, departed to Trenton. It's the 3rd C-17 at Madeira and the first Canadian one (the others...one from USAF, HERE , and another from RAF) Unfortunatelly, couldn't manage to get the arrival and made just a couple of quick photos as it was on the procedures of starting the engines.

Back 10 years, to 07th November 2013...Photographed a few things that are already gone now but, for today, choose this close-up on West Air Europe BAe ATP LX-WAE, departing from runway 23 to Lisbon, on the daily cargo flight...

  Poste Air Cargo B734 EI-GHA, at Fiumicino. Now an airline owned by the Italian Post, its origin was Mistral Air, curiously established in 1981 by actor and former swimmer Bud Spencer (Carlo Pedersoli), starting operations in 1984. In 2019 was rebranded as Poste Air Cargo, after a lot of changes on operations and owners during its life. Check more info HERE

This week we had the begining of the Ryanair operations at Madeira.  I guess it should be an interesting theme for the Photo of the Week but definitely I rather want to dedicate it to WizzAir...One of my favourite liveries around here and one I barely have any pics... Daily cargo flight unloading... Swiftair ATR-72 EC-MIY, with a very nice rainbow, while WizzAir A320 G-WUKD comes in for a landing... Touchdown, from London - Luton

Back to 2012, a shot I had completely forgot behind... It was on the day I first visited a Portuguese Air Force C-130 cockpit so...every other traffic got forgotten....(check the C-130 pics HERE ) TF-BBG, a Boeing 737-36E(BDSF) from Bluebird, the airline that, back then, made the daily cargo flights between Lisbon and Madeira.

Depois de, no passado dia 29 de Janeiro, o C-130 16803, operado pela Esquadra 501 da Força Aérea Portuguesa ter estado em destaque nas câmaras dos Órgãos de  Comunicação Social do país, aquando do transporte de 3 pacientes Covid para unidade de cuidados intensivos do Hospital Central do Funchal, voltámos a tê-lo por cá esta semana, desta feita em missão de transporte de meios humanos e materiais para o Arquipélago. Ficam alguns registos da chegada do continente e saída para o Porto Santo...

On a specially dificult weekend for Australia, due to the fires raging trough the country with high temperatures and strong winds, this one is dedicated to all Australians! The first and only time a saw a Royal Australian Air Force around here (and also the first and only time I saw a C-27 Spartan around here...) A34-004 departing from runway 05, back in 2017.... Happy New Year everyone! Time for last year's highlights! It took its time but, last year, Eurowings brought us some of its special liveries... In January, I got the Borussia Dortmund livery on A320 D-AIZR.
