Early wake for the Antonov

A couple of days ago, Tuifly's B738 D-ATUH (special livery Mein CEWE) suffered a bird strike on landing which damaged the nose.
The replacement part had to be brought from Hannover by an An-12, which is allways a great (and rare) sight...
Inicially schedulled to arrive in the middle of the night, ended up arriving a little bit  before sunrise which allowed me to make a quick run for some shots before heading to work.

An-12 UR-CGV just after arriving...(long exposure shot...tried some high ISO shots of the landing but it was too dark)

Tuifly's D-ATUH on a night-stop with the damaged nose.
Unfortunately couldn't stay for the nose change...

CS-TKJ: The landing of the Birdstrike

Last Jun.,20th the Sata A320 CS-TKJ had a multiple birdstrike at LPMA  - Madeira during the rotation on the take-off to Copenhagen (CPH).

Check the small info I published then HERE

Until now, no pics of the landing were known. None of the usual Madeira Spotters were around at the time of landing and no other pics were published on the most known aviation photography sites.
These pics would be specially interesting because there was a controversy on the fact that the birdstrike had made one of the cargo doors open in flight and the A320 made the landing with that door open.

Speciallists stated that it wasn't possible or if it was open it would be just a little bit...

Well, this weekend a foreign spotter sent me some hot shots on this.
Sergey Bocharov was on the right spot at the right time!

Thanks a lot for sharing these pics, Sergey.
Just made a crop on the pics, resized (1200x800) and put a watermark on the pics....

By the way, if anyone out there has any more pics on this, please share....

Engine damage

EC-JXZ
Looks like despite everyone was mentioning a birdstrike on the Air Nostrum, that's not confirmed...
It was with some engine (one or two blades) damage but it's still to confirm what caused it....

The Nordic British Airways

The last time I saw British Airways around here was when GB was sold to Easyjet...
GB was the British Airways representation at Madeira and with that sell no more those colors were seen around.

It seemed like it would stay like that for many more years but after all, the BA blue and red colors came earlier than expected and being weared by a quite unexpected plane...

With a Danish registration, operated by Sun Air of Scandinavia and bringing the Swedish soccer team  BK Hacken with an overall coat of the BA colors,  it's definitely what I call a Nordic Brithish Airways...

The Dornier 328 (Do.328)  is not a usual plane here at all. We probably get one or (in a good year) two of those around here and usually Air Ambulances from ADAC, so you can understand all the rush around this traffic...

The Swedish team is coming to Madeira to play the first hand of an European Football (Soccer) competition with regional club C.D.Nacional

over runway 05 treshold with some nice reflections of the runway on the fuselage and engines...

OY-NCM

The time of the day hasn't the best sunlight but you got to work with what you have and try for the best....
Will probably be departing next Friday, around lunch time.

Still on the apron was the Air Nostrum CRJ-900 that suffered a birdstrike yesterday and had to be grounded for an engine repair.
Don't really know if it's already fixed or not but seemed like the damage wasn't that bad....

Birdstrike: Air Nostrum

Pois é...parece que houve mais um birdstrike, desta feita no CRJ-900 EC-JXZ da Air Nostrum que efectuava ontem o voo a partir de Valência (VLC / LEVC)

Sata's Birdstrike

This morning, Sata's CS-TKJ, making the S4 680 flight from Madeira to Copenhagen suffered several birdstrike impacts from a flock of birds during take off, affecting both engines (that kept working) and a cargo door, that opened in flight.

CS-TKJ at Madeira with the remains of another birdstrike (with a lot less consequences) back in 2005

The plane managed to return safely to the airport.
The passengers were put on a replacement A320 a few hours later.

The plane is at Funchal for damage evaluation

Easyjet's engine birdstrike

This morning, the Easyjet from Lisbon had an engine birdstrike before the final approach to runway 05.

Everything went ok but the plane is grounded....
Tomorow we'll probably know something more on the engine but....I wonder....will it be this time that we'll have something interesting (cargo plane) around here to bring a new engine to the Easy....??

Check Samuel Passos vídeo of the final approach of the plane to runway 05...
Notting visible but the loud and strange noise is noticeable....
