Looks like it's another one gone (two, actually, with Xfly), with Nordica intentions of filing for bankruptcy, after the deal with a new investor failed. More info HERE The only time I photographed a Nordica plane was in Amsterdam-Schiphol, back in 2017... ES-ACB, a CRJ-900ER

100 Years of KLM

KLM colors at Madeira (PH-HZM, on service with Transavia but still with KLM colors was, in August 2006, the only time I saw the dutch airline colors around here) KLM Celebrates today its 100 aniversary, becaming the first airline to operate under the original name for more than 100 years. Congratulations! Originaly tough to be named as Dutch Airlines, it received by the Queen the Honor to carry the name "Royal" (Koninklijke), so becaming Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (Royal Company of Aviation)...well...let's just stick to the KLM :) :) In Portugal,, the KLM is part of one of World War II little misteries: When the Nederland was invaded by the germans, some of the KLM planes outside the country went to England and the Dutch Goverment in exile / British authorities decided to put them to use (and its crews) with BOAC. In June, 1st 1943, the flight KLM/BOAC 777 departed from Lisbon to Withchurch (near Bristol) but never managed to reach its destiny...was s...

Photo of the Week: The balcony Fokker

Fokker 100 PH-OFE / FE-004 Well, I guess not many Airport balconies with an open Fokker 100 with the air radio comms inside...you gotta love it :) Looks like the balcony will be under works up to the summer so, for the current visitors of Amsterdam Schiphol it may not be possible to get up there... Luckily, despite all the rain we got on the Netherlands, that day the weather was really nice for some spotting on the terrace...

On the other side....

TUI Nederland (Arke) B738 PH-TFF pushing back at Amsterdam Schiphol  One of the boring blues that comes to Madeira (or at least came, back then), seen on the other end of the route, as it was pushing back for a departure from AMS. On the back...the omnipresent blue home team...KLM B738 PH-BXV

The guys in blue

Imagem
No...no talking about the Police... Back to Amsterdam, a shot of KLM B737 PH-BGH.... I guess, the dificulty here is getting just one....still with a bigger "brother" on the back, an A330... By the way...a good moment to remember the only time I got KLM colors at Madeira... Check HERE

For this week some planes but with the focus on the spotters, either when they do know that they are spotting or just think that they're watching some planes.... ;) Amsterdam Schipol public balcony

Delta 767

For a bit of a change on Madeira traffic, a Boeing 767 of the US airline Delta, at Amsterdam Schiphol, beeing towed to the stand, with Air France A321 F-GTAZ taxiing to the runway: 20 year old 767 N190DN

The smaller ones

Sometimes, no matter how many heavies you have around, the smaller birds are the ones that caught your attention... The Dornier 328 is a very rare bird around here. The airlines (which I had never heard before) colors are also quite nice, so it immediately called my attention... (still, was nice to have a 747F on the back... :)  ) Pic taken trough the glass.... According to their page, they have 3 of these and another 3 Saab 2000
