Planes and stuff

This month we had, for the first time in a long time, a B757 Icelandair's TF-FIC on one of it world tours...unfortunatelly, completely white....still nice to see a 757 once more. Arrived from Brazil, stayed for a few days and departed to London, before heading to Reykjavik  Didn't get the landing nor the departure but, for the record, a shot of the apron on Aug.21st with a nice light and TAP's A321NEO CS-TJJ and Transavia's A321NEO PH-YHR with the new livery.

Back to May, a few shots of Transavia at Madeira. Transavia France A320NEO F-HXSN, arriving from Paris - Orly Ready for push-back, with a Transavia A321 arriving from Amsterdam With United B737 MAX N27273 taxiing to runway 05, for the departure back to Newark

  Condor A321 D-ABAB departing from runway 23 to Dusseldorf, with Transavia France F-HTVS finishing the push-back and Spanish Air Force Super Puma HD.21-18, at the far end of the apron. The Spanish Puma had arrived from Ponta Delgada, where it was part of ASAREX 26, a SAR Exercise. Will be departing today for Las Palmas.

 For a change on Air Invictus 2026 pics, back to Madeira, with a Jet2 A321 which is still quite rare for me (not so much around here...) A321NEO G-SUNW arriving from Birmingham, on the day I made my first shots at Portuguese Air Force Falcon 900 (check HERE )

Today, again another windy day at Madeira.  The wind wasn't out of limits but made some landings quite hard and at least one diversion... In less than an hour at the airport, saw 4 or 5 go arounds... Condor A321 D-ANLB, from Dusseldorf was one of them with a couple of go-arounds before landing on third atempt. First one, with a sturdy touchdown....and then, after the rebound, it made the go around, pushing the engines and fighting with the wind... On the second atempt, it started going around on final, with engines screaming... It landed on third atempt but then I had already left... A job well done for the pilots on bringing everyone safe.

Tried a diferent spot for the lining up of the Binter ATR-72 EC-NGF on runway 05 but ended up not resulting quite as expected... With TAP A339 CS-TUD, Easyjet A321 G-UZMC, Transavia A321 PH-YHS and Tuifly B7378 D-ATYL on the apron... The main purpose was trying to get a dual shot with Binter and Norwegian Epic cruise ship that had departed from Funchal but I was too low and level with the runway to get them both in a decent framing

A foto da semana vai dedicada ao TAP A321 CS-TJF, apesar de não parecer  :) Sim, esse mesmo, lá ao fundo, alinhando para a 05, numa espécie de warp-speed ... Curiosamente, é também a primeira foto que publico do EC-MMM, ATR-72 da Binter, que se encontrava em night-stop. Não é todos os dias que vamos fotografar a saída de um A321 da TAP, com 25 anos, às 4 da matina...  Uma placa completamente deserta, ganhou vida num piscar de olhos, para a saída deste aparelho para Lisboa. Infelizmente, sendo 321, não fica propriamente a jeito para umas noturnas da varanda, com vários obstáculos à frente e alguma distância. Pronto para o push-back, para saída pela 05 Com o CS-TJF pronto a taxiar ao fundo, em primeiro plano o Embraer 195LR CS-TAX, que se encontrava igualmente em night-stop e que, curiosamente também nunca tinha fotografado. Ao serviço da companhia portuguesa desde 2023, após iniciar a carreira na Aeronova e posteriormente na Air Europa Express, antes de ingressar na TAP Express...

Back to December 2025, with runway 23 in use, a sequence on the departure of Wizz Air A321NEO HA-LGP, from Madeira to Vienna...always interesting to get runway 23 in use...

Today I got, for the first time, Wizzair's special 250th livery, arriving from Budapest. Got it...next time, will try to improve it...  

On the same day of RAF's A400 (check HERE ), also made my first shots on another 400th Delivered almost 2 years ago (March 2024), and with a few landings at Madeira, only last Feb.6th I made my first shots on Easyjet's 400th Airbus livery, A321NEO OE-ISH. Arriving on runway 05, from Berlin

 Definitely the most interesting traffic of the year, until now. The A400 is a rare visitor at Madeira... Royal Air Force A400M Atlas ZM415, arriving by the end of the afternoon, from Brussels (Melsbroek Air Base) for a night stop. With Transavia A321NEO PH-YHV finishing the push-back for the return to Amsterdam. Also on the military field, Portuguese Air Force Falcon 50 17403 made a stop with a Medical transport, with a nice take-off. More on that later

Today german carrier Lufthansa celebrates its 100th Aniversary! Congratulations! Despite having a few Lufthansa Group airlines flying to Madeira, currently the main one does not. Still, a photo, a photo of retro livery A321 D-AIDV receiving the water salute at Madeira, on the day of its return to our skyes, back in 2016... More on that day, HERE
