Planes and stuff

Um par de 02 no AM3 - Aeródromo de Manobra do Porto Santo: 19602, o EH-101 operado pela Esquadra 751 atualmente destacado no Porto Santo e o 16702, o C-295 que sofreu uma aterragem sem trem no passado dia 10 de Junho e que se encontra atualmente no hangar habitualmente ocupado pelo EH, em reparações...

Para os que têm curiosidade em saber como anda o C-295 16702 que, recorde-se, efectuou uma aterragem sem trem no Porto Santo, no regresso de uma missão de Evacuação Médica, no dia 10 de Junho (ver AQUI ) , fica um par de registos do passado dia 26 de Julho, obtidas durante a saída do EH-101 19610 numa missão MEDEVAC para a Madeira... O 02 continua pelo Porto Santo, tendo sido movido para uma raquete na zona do AM3. Durante o período que estive por lá (no dia 29 de Julho), andava com pessoal da manutenção em volta e os motores foram ligados... Um pouco mais próximo...os 300mm da lente não davam muito mais...

Só para o registo e memória futura, até porque não vou partilhar esta entrada nas redes sociais... O C-295 16702 sofreu hoje uma aterragem de barriga no Porto Santo, no regresso de uma Medevac para a Madeira. Por acaso tive a oportunidade de fazer uns cliques à saída do avião na Madeira, numa perspectiva de registo rápido, já que a luz e ondas de calor faziam com que não valesse a pena muitas fotos... A salientar, o facto da tripulação não ter registado danos pessoais...quanto ao resto...quem de direito haverá de investigar... Por curiosidade, este acidente fez com que os 5 F-16, que tinham participado na cerimónia do 10 de Junho e se encontravam no Porto Santo em escala técnica, antes de seguirem para os Açores, tivessem de adiar a sua partida para o dia seguinte....

Do início do mês (03 de Maio) um par de registos do C-295 16702, destacado no AM3 - Porto Santo, durante uma missão de evacuação médica e posterior saída de regresso ao Porto Santo: Transferência do paciente para a ambulância dos Bombeiros Sapadores de Santa Cruz, com o apoio da EMIR (Equipa Médica de Intervenção Rápida) Descolagem curta, de regresso ao Porto Santo...

Apesar do tempinho escuro, sendo primeiro dia sem recolher obrigatório, lá dei um salto ao aeroporto para a partida do Presidente da República, que se encontrava na Região, desde a noite anterior, afinal de contas, vale sempre a pena fotografar o Falcon 50, operado pela Esquadra 504, seja quem for que esteja a bordo... Entretanto, a "estrela" acabaria por ser o C-295 16702, operado pela 502 e destacado no Porto Santo, com uma evacuação médica, vítima de acidente, daquela ilha, em especial pela descolagem, com um low level na pista e posterior subiiiida, com volta pela direita.. A subida e volta foram já algo longe para fotos que valham a pena partilha mas, fica como foto da semana, um registo da saída baixa, após a descolagem, já com o trem recolhido... Entretanto, uns registos da chegada: com o strob inferior em cheio... Transferência do paciente para a ABSC04 dos Bombeiros Municipais de Santa Cruz (Sapadores, agora) Entretanto, um pouco ao lado, o Presidente da República ch...

A couple of pics from last Saturday MEDEVAC mission carried through by Portuguese Air Force Sqn.502 C-295 16702 from Porto Santo to Madeira. Arrival at runway 23 Departure was made from runway 05...still hoped for a low level pass, as we were on the oposite runway but, no luck...

Na passada quarta à noite, a tripulação da Esquadra 502 actualmente destacada no AM3 - Porto Santo, efectuou nova Evacuação Médica daquela ilha para a Madeira, de 2 pessoas que necessitavam de cuidados médicos mais complexos, demonstrando assim uma vez mais (se dúvidas ainda houvesse....) a importância da missão da Força Aérea entre nós. Como andava por aqueles lados, decidi aproveitar a oportunidade para tentar umas fotos nocturnas ao C-295, após o seu regresso ao Porto Santo, conseguindo assim alguns registos que destacam uma faceta de missão que muitas vezes é esquecida mas, igualmente importante para o desempenho na mesma...a tarefa da manutenção que, após a chegada do aparelho ao Porto Santo e apesar da hora (cerca da 1 hora da manhã) fez uma vistoria completa ao avião à luz da lanterna, incluindo motores que foram também abertos. Considerando a distância a que me encontrava do avião (cerca de 400 metros, segundo as medições no Google Earth), fiz uma série considerável de registos...

Há já algum tempo que começaram a circular imagens que mostravam a última alteração efectuada ao esquema de pintura dos C-295 da Força Aérea... Hoje, de uma forma totalmente inesperada tive oportunidade de registar um dos aparelhos da Esquadra 502 que já ostentavam esta alteração: a aplicação dos títulos "Força Aérea Portuguesa", na parte frontal da fuselagem... 16702 na placa do Aeroporto da Madeira, aguardando sabe-se lá o quê... Infelizmente não pude esperar pela saída...

Portuguese has usually two airships detached at AM3 - Porto Santo. One is the EH-101, the other...the C-295 Due to some problems in the runway, on the edge that gives access to military apron (runway 18), the C-295 is beeing kept at the civil apron. In one hand it makes it easier to photograph it, on the other hand, the location, near the net doesn't allow that much choice on the angles... 16702 early in the morning... It's most comon mission, specially during summer seasson is the Medevacs to Madeira. Porto Santo has an healt care center with ER and some healt cares but more serious stuff has to be send to Madeira... During my stay there, there was at least a couple of Medevacs (at least one in the night) but I didn't got it flying until one day I was on top of Miradouro das Flores and noticed this sound.... The C-295 was making a low-level flight over the sea, bellow my position....fantastic view!!! With the 300D+18-200 on my hand, runned to the back of ...

The day of the CS-TKN's premiere in new colors was definitely a very nice day of spotting, specially considering it was a Wednesday (usually a "dead day", regarding traffic). Jorge even commented it looked like a Monday (busiest day, at LPMA)... Anyway, another of the pearls of that day was the PoAF C-295 16702. It had been there in the morning (or lunch time...) but I hadn't caught it and was returning for a quick stop at Madeira, before proceding to the mainland. It was the first time I had the oportunity to shot it on the afternoon, with a better light... After some time with some people around, it taxied back to runway 05. Time to try to get everything we could get...moved to another location to shoot it entering the runway....... .....and then while it back-tracked the runway, run into the car and hurried to another location for the take-off...

Squadron 502 keeps training at Madeira with its new airplanes, the C295M. Last 13th May, got a call form Jorge: the C295 was at Funchal area and would go to the airport for a couple of touch and go's.... Was nearby my place, so run into my home to get my camera and the car and went "low flying" (obviously withing speed limits....) to the airport. Managed to get near runway 05 treshold as the C295 was entering short final to this runway. Made a quick stop and a few shots...not the best light but...new registration, was 16703. While it was making the second circuit to 05 I went to a better location, on the "rampa do Dionísio", on the road behind the runway, for the second touch and go. The sun, at this time it's still backlit but is the best place for approach/touchdown. After this touch and go, it went 3000ft to Porto Santo. Made a warn call to Paulo, at Porto Santo and headed home... A real quick but also real worth trip...

Beeing a military aviation fan on a mainly civil airport, the oportunity I had last week to see and photograph the new Portuguese Air Force plane, the C295 sure deserves it. 06.May.2006 Great day for a military fan at Madeira! Finally got the chance to see (and photograph) the new Portuguese Air Force plane, the C295M. Was finishing some stuff at work before lunch when I got a call from Paulo Brito at Porto Santo . "The C295 was at Porto Santo and about to leave to Madeira" !!!! Well, went back to "base" at work, grabbed my car and went "flying low" into the airport. Managed to get there at the same time the C295 was leaving Porto Santo. The time and sun weren't the best for the pics and they turned out nothing special but, anyway, got it! It made a couple of touch and go's on runway 05 and headed to the Desert islands area during the landings/take offs of the civil traffic. Afterwards, it came for another 2 landings at 05 leaving then (around 2:20 pm) to Porto Santo.
