Planes and stuff

 Airbus is trying to get in the run for the F-16 fighter replacement on the Portuguese Air Force with the Eurofighter Typhoon (check HERE ) So...another unpublished shot of a couple of Spanish Eurofighter on static display during Portuguese Air Force 70th Aniversary, at BA11 - Beja:

 Chegou hoje à Região um grupo de 4 caças F-16, da Força Aérea Portuguesa, com alguns deles a darem um ar da sua graça pela Madeira, antes de se dirigirem para o Porto Santo, onde ficarão baseados por estes dias para um exercício militar, que deverá envolver os 3 ramos das Forças Armadas, bem como marcarem presença no 52º Aniversário Estado-Maior-General das Forças Armadas, que este ano se realiza na Região. Por agora, um registo que ainda não tinha publicado do 15103, obtido na BA11, aquando dos70 Anos da FAP. e um registo da fragata F333 - NRP Bartolomeu Dias, que ontem chegou aos mares da Região. Tem-se mantido fora do Funchal, pelo que este é também um registo de outra escala, obtido em 16 de Setembro de 2022 (ver AQUI )

Don't get many bizjets on its arrival nor departure so, for a change a Netjets Challenger 350 on its departure to Bordeaux Photo of the Week ( CS-CHK) Before startup a short take off from runway 05 and the photo of the week...not a stunning photo but I really like these kind of pics with the sun on the plane and the dark sky....

Uma das "novelas" deste Verão, ao nível da Proteção Civil e combate a incêndios foi o prometido segundo meio de combate a incêndios para a Região. Com um meio médio pago pela Região, utilizado no combate a incêndios e resgate em montanha (Bell 412), havia aquela arma de arremesso político prometida por uns e exigida por outros que era o segundo meio aéreo de combate a incêndios, desta feita financiado pelo Governo da República. Um meio ligeiro que serviria exclusivamente para combate a incêndios e que poderia ser rapidamente ativado caso o meio médio estivesse numa qualquer outra missão, de resgate ou combate a incêndios. Esta semana lá chegou, por via marítima, o tão esperado meio aéreo...no final de Setembro e com previsão de entrada em serviço a 1 de Outubro... Um contrato de 61 dias de serviço com um custo total 407 mil euros... Passei hoje por lá para uns cliques, curioso para ver não só o registo como a pintura e operações de montagem, que se iniciavam, na altura em que...

Recently we had a NEOS flight from Tel Aviv...didn't raise too much interest...NEOS is not regular here but it's also not a rarity but today, with the Tel Aviv flight beeing made by Arkia, the interest was totally diferent...it was the airline first time at Madeira and also israeli registrations are quite uncommon here (only my second, at Madeira). To add to all this, one of the guys noticed that 4X-AGH was the first ever A321LR NEO... The only thing missing...the sun...with these colors, a little bit of sun would shine even better on this livery....oh well...the life of a spotter... A few more shots on the arrival on runway 23... The departure from 23 should be interesting but, couldn't wait....maybe next time

One of those days I just happened to be at Santa Cruz at the end of the afternoon and made a quick stop at the airport, just to check the apron. There was a nice light so, waited for some shots... Transavia A321NEO PH-YHF was about to depart...unfortunatelly, by then, the sun was already gone behind the mountains... Taxi to 05 for the return to Amsterdam Decided to try a 1/30 panning....this was the only aceptable shot but, good enough...

 Este fim de semana assinalam-se na BA1 - Sintra, os 75 anos do Chipmunk em Portugal, um aparelho com um enorme significado entre nós e na formação de inúmeras gerações de pilotos militares e que ainda hoje, com algumas alterações ao nível da motorização, entre outras alterações, tem alguns exemplares em voo, na Força Aérea. Fica pois um registo do 1305, obtido já em 2013, no Museu do Ar, na BA1 - Sintra O link para a publicação de Facebook da Força Aérea Portuguesa relativa ao evento, com algumas fotos ar-ar do1339, que ostenta agora uma pintura especial alusiva à efeméride:

 From last week, on a morning with some wind... The landing of Easyjet's A320 OE-LSR, from Lisbon, with a bit of a side touch.. And one shot of the take-off, back to Lisbon, after a short run on runway 05

Numa semana em que não esperava ir ao aeroporto, apesar de alguns movimentos interessantes, como por exemplo o Icelandair B737 MAX8 TF-ICH de hoje  (dia 15) , de Reykjavik, acabei por dar lá um salto ao final da tarde para o Falcon 50 17403, da Força Aérea Portuguesa, num voo de transporte médico para Lisboa, com o callsign Medic 50. Chegou com uma fantástica luz dourada de final de tarde, pela 05, em mais um dia de vento "estranho", com vento de cauda em ambas as pistas... Ficou no A02 aguardando a chegada da ambulância, o que acabaria por demorar algum tempo... Quando chegou a Mercedes ABSC 107 da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa, o sol já tinha desaparecido atrás das montanhas de Gaula Entre os procedimentos de emabarque do paciente, startup, taxi, etc....na altura da descolagem, já ao início da noite, com um vento ligeiro de cauda e o trato suave da aeronave à descolagem, face ao paciente a bordo, acabaria por não conseguir um registo que valesse a pena a partilha....paciência...

Nunca mais tinha passado pelo SRPC - Serviço Regional de Proteção Civil, onde está baseado o H35, o Bell 412 de combate a incendios e resgate em montanha na Região. Estava à espera do prometido segundo meio aéreo.... :P Naa.......promessas dessas, acredita quem quer.... (Curiosamente, o EC-MEI está neste momento a passar aqui por cima...) Na verdade estava com um spotter amigo, de fora da Região e é sempe algo diferente, que vale a pena registar, mesmo parado. Acabou por ser também interessante para mim, pois reparei que tinham cortado as árvores em frente ao heliponto, permitindo a saída direta em frente do helicóptero e o próprio helicóptero estava parqueado numa posição lateral que nunca tinha fotografado (com saída direta para o mar, sobre a zona onde as árvores foram cortadas. Normalmente ficava de frente para o spot de onde tirei estas fotos). É uma posição mais efetiva para a partida do meio aéreo e também mais interessante para fotos (no período da manhã)

  Pretty sure it's the first Jet2Madeira photo I publish...and it's a double stack... G-DRTF, baptized Jet2Madeira starting the taxi for the return flight to London Stanstead, while G-JZHZ is coming to a stop, after a runway 05 arrival, from Bristol.

  Early wake to get 9H-VIM, a Vistajet Bombardier BD-700-2A12 Global 7500, arriving positioned from Las Palmas to grab some passengers for a flight back to Washingon Dulles International Airport (IAD). Today, the wind made some (not much) of its usual damage at Madeira, with some flights diverting during the day. In the morning, no planes diverted but some made had some bumpy approaches... This Vistajet was one, with an hard final to runway 05, quite noticeable in this shot, where it is supposed to come already straight and stabilized on very short final.... Over the runway they had another "twitch" to the other side...but managed to land at first atempt.

 Back to Frebruary, from the day of RAF A400 (Check HERE ), a late afternoon shot of TAP Express (Portugália) Embraer E195LR CS-TAY, baptized "Porto Santo", arriving at Madeira's runway 05, from Lisbon.

Something new for me... Smartwings B738 OK-TVF with the remains of the Prague Loves You special livery Went for the Portugal Air Force C-130 (Check HERE ) and didn't even looked at the remaining traffic so, it was a nice surprise Taxiing for the return to Prague

Back to Air Invictus 2026, another shot of the beautifull P-51 Frances Dell (  OO-NZW) at Vila da Luz airfield with a great light...

This month we had, for the first time in a long time, a B757 Icelandair's TF-FIC on one of it world tours...unfortunatelly, completely white....still nice to see a 757 once more. Arrived from Brazil, stayed for a few days and departed to London, before heading to Reykjavik  Didn't get the landing nor the departure but, for the record, a shot of the apron on Aug.21st with a nice light and TAP's A321NEO CS-TJJ and Transavia's A321NEO PH-YHR with the new livery.

Today we got at Madeira, a Royal Canadian Air Force C-17 (177703), coming from Porto, after a night-stop there. The stop at Madeira was quite short, before proceeding to Marrakech Unfortunatelly, didn't manage to get it..bills aren't payed by spotting... A shot, back from 2024 of 177705, the first and only RCAF C-17 I photographed around here (or anywhere else... ) Check the entry HERE

 On the same day of Portugal Air Force C-130 16801 (Check HERE ) and EH-101 Medic25 (check Here ), managed to get a rare San Marino registration bird. T7-SLA, a Bombardier CL-600-2B19 Challenger 850 arriving from somewhere with someone... A tourist girl came and ask me who was the owner of the plane. Replied to her that it was a private plane and honestly, didn't know and didn't care.... It's a rare bird around here with nice colors...it's good and enough... After landing (with a hard light...) it backtracked to taxiway Charlie for a stop on A01... Didn't really liked any of the landing shots so, a taxi pic, entering the apron with the light on a more suitable heading...

Alguns registos do C-130 16801 na Madeira, após passagem pelo Porto Santo, no passado dia 20. Chegada pela 05: Algum tempo depois, veio a ter a companhia do EH-101 19607, que chegou igualmente do Porto Santo como Medic 25, numa missão de Evacuação Médica a partir daquela ilha. Mais fotos do Medic 25 AQUI O "C" acabaria por ficar em night-stop pela Madeira, partindo no dia seguinte.
