Despite yesterdays Orange Easyjet, today is a very special day, and this seemed to be the right plane to publish this day as New Photo of the Week.... ;) OO-JBG landing on 05 (even the runway is the right one for today...) Actually, decided that this all week will be dedicated to the 5...so, a few more posts will be published on this theme, during the week....

200th : The Orange Easyjet!

Imagem
Yesterday night, when I posted the entry about waiting for the coming of the Easyjet's 200th Airbus with the special Orange livery I didn't know how close I was to get it.... Today the London Gatwick flight was made by this beauty! I couldn't even believe in my eyes, when I noticed it... It was almost like they attended my request.... ;) Anyway, didn't manage to get landing so, went for the departure... While lining up on runway 05, the F/O definitely noticed me and A.M. G-EZUI pushing back... on taxiway Charlie, with some great reflections on the shinning new painting... The A320 linning up on 05, "carrier" style.... Less than half-an-hour later we had yet another special livery.... Stay tunned for the pics...

Easyjet... waiting for the orange one...

Imagem
Still remeber when  Easyjet started flying to Madeira ...wow! Finally the oportunity to get  Easyjets .... Well...that thrill is already gone since quite a long time... But now the Orange G-EZUI has brought a new interest on the hunt for Easyjet planes at Madeira... Anyway, while I don't get it here, some pics of G-EZDD, taken on the day after the winds that made planes divert to Porto Santo and Canarias Arriving at the stand, passing by Jet2 B737 with Jet2 Holidays special livery (G-GDFD) that was diverted to Porto Santo the day before. Entering the stand, just by the side of Monarch's A320 G-MONX that made a night-stop at Madeira, also due to the winds Wind was still pretty hard so, take-off were being made quite early...

Enter Air finished at Madeira?

Imagem
Today I noticed that Enter Air was no longer on today's arrivals/departures page of Madeira Airport . I don't know if they already stoped coming to Madeira... They started making a weekly charter flight, from Prague on April, 24th... Only caught it twice and both times in a hurry... You can check premirer entry HERE The other only time I photographed it was also in a hurry...was coming in the express way when I noticed it on downwind...speeded up and took the Cargo Terminal exit, getting there just in time to stop, grab my camera in the back and shoot a couple of pics...(didn't even had the time to check the settings....) The weather was rainy and crappy but, it didn't turned out that bad.... SP-ENA, the B737 from Enter Air over runway 05's treshold P.S.: After this post, another spotter called my attention that today they were coming around 20.30h and as from next week they will be coming during the night.... The plane that made today's flight wa

Rotation spot....

Imagem
On the day we went for some spotting with the 2 Algarve spotters that were around, we went for a couple of less usual spots... The bad thing about this spot is that you can see the plane on the take-off run it just apears from behind the mountain and it depends a lot if it makes a late or an early take-off (in this case, the take-off was just about the right place....) Anyway, despite it can be a very nice place to get the columns that suport this part of the runway, I focused on the plane, with no overview... Just after CS-TKJ rotation.... Sata's A320 with Desertas islands in the back....

Jet2 Holidays special livery

Imagem
This one was an hard catch... Was after it a long time...really love its livery. Used to be on service with Tuifly , with D-AHFB registration (with the great Sharan special livery....) It surprised us monday at lunch time but, due to strong winds ended up diverting to Porto Santo (check pics here ) The B737 G-GDFD ready for push-back Pushing back to 05, with OK-TVR from Travel Service on the next stand (had also arrived from Porto Santo, after beeing diverted to that island on the previous day) CS-DCH , the TB-10 from local Aeroclube making a windy take-off for a flight to Funchal (check more pics HERE ) Unfortunatelly, opposite to the previous 3 planes, the Jet2 made quite a long take-off so, the pics didn't turned out  as I wanted (specially with all that fog....)

Leituras: (Conhecer) Auschwitz

Finnair on a diferent spot

Imagem
One of the planes diverted to Porto Santo last Monday was OH-LBT, from Finnair . It came to Madeira only in the next morning. Like I said, on that morning, decided to try a couple of diferent spots... Despit the distance and some obstacles in closer landing shots it's definitely a place to try a few more shots in next spotting sessions... Coming in final (passing by Rosário)...(from this spot it looks a lot lower than it really is... and some considerable wingflex is noticeable... B757 flaring on runwau 05  Marshaller signaling the final stop on the stand.... By the way...anyone has any info on new livery for these birds?

Monarch's going up....

Imagem
The  Monarch's  flight, last Monday, was one of the flights that were affected by strong winds... Due to that situation it diverted to Lisbon (without even coming to try the landing at Madeira). Later on the afternoon, with a more suitable meteo, it finally came to Madeira but then it was already too late (crew flight time) for the England return.  It made a night-stop, departing Tuesday morning to Bournemouth... Monarch's A320 ready for push-back G-MONX pushing-back to runway 05 Sometimes, no sun is good sun... Considering the strong winds (and early take-offs), decided to try a different spot which turned out rather nice but, would be impossible to use in the morning if the sun was strong as it would be completely backlight...

New Photo of the Week - Brave small ones...

Imagem
Las Monday afternoon wind was blowing quite hard at Madeira Airport so, most of the afternoon planes had to divert to Porto Santo and Canary islands....(including the newest Jet2 logojet which was premiering at Madeira, with those colors.... and "I Love Prague" Travel Service's logojet....) The next morning (yesterday, Tuesday) the diverted planes started to come to Madeira. The wind was calmer but still blowing hard... despite all the planes and the Jet2 special livery, I must say that the small Tobago, from local Aeroclube was the one that really thrilled me most... CS-DCH departing from 05 to a local flight to Funchal bay Take-off was made really early...notice the passengers from Travel Service staring at the Tobago... over the runway...wind wasn't making it easy....

Memories - The gone Helog....

Imagem
Tonight, an Helog Helicopter (D-HAXR) arrived at Porto Santo for a night-stop. This reminded me the only time I photographed an Helog Helicopter, an helicopter that unfortunatelly would get known for the wrong reasons... This helicopter came to help mounting the Botanical Garden cable car , at Madeira and I caught it arriving at Madeira. D-HLOG (Super Puma) Unfortunatelly, 2 years later would be part of an accident with another small plane where 8 people died, including the 7 persons on board.... Check the accident details HERE

Peanuts....Snoopy and the all bunch...

Imagem
The same day of the HB-JOZ, from last post , the big star was the last Condor of the day: D-AICE which holds the all Peanuts bunch on the fuselage, oposite to many other Condor planes with just Snoopy or so... Looked like the clouds were closing in but we still managed to get Condor's A320 landing with some late sun... over runway 05 treshold... Looks nice but it's definitely a livery that made go for the "hunt"...

Arriving from Zurich

Imagem
Last Thursday, joined to a couple of Algarve spotters and few more local ones for some shots on the afternoon planes. The star of the day was the last plane I got...but this one was also a nice catch: the new Air Berlin colors are rather nice, the pics turned out also nice and I had never seen this registration around here... HB-JOZ, Air Berlin ( Belair ) A320 over rwy 05 treshold Smoky landing, arriving from Zurich

Debates...

Snoopy's Condor at 23

Imagem
Was going to share some of today's pics but got an email regarding one of my last pic's that have been accepted at Airliners.net . It was from the plane's captain, regarding this pic: Condor's D-AICN, landing on runway 05 So, decided to share a couple of more pics of that landing...too bad the sun was missing...

The Special one...

Imagem
No...not talking about Mourinho... Like I said on the post regarding the arrival of Smartwings, last Monday (check HERE ) Travel Service brought, on that day 4 flights, every one with some kind of interest... I only photographed the Smartwings but, there was another that would really make a catch... Despite I photographed it a couple of times, it's one of those that you never get tired (specially because it's not that usual here....) I'm talking about former OK-TVC (currently HA-LKE )... OK-TVC the first time I caught it, still with full Telefonica O2 special livery Check full entry HERE The second time I caught it, already with an hybrid livery and HA-LKE registration Check the full entry HERE

A couple of beauties: The rare and the gone...

Imagem
The good thing about not beeing satisfied with the last pics I took is that I made some browsing on some old (2007) pics and found a day with some really nice shots... For now, just a couple of them... The first, a rare pic of an Air Malta...if I can recall correctly, they made a few XL flights to Madeira...but definitely not usual at all around here... 9H-AEI, the A320 from Air Malta, taking off from runway 23 The other one...well if you didn't got it then, you won't get it anymore.... The colors are British Airways but company is GB Airways, later bought by Easyjet.... Really miss British colors around here.... G-TTOE taking off from runway 23

The Chickenpox First Choice....

Imagem
Some time ago was browsing some pics and found this one that just got accepted by Jetphotos ... Not great quality but it's definitely not everyday you get a 757 with chickenpox.... ;) G-OOBI taxiing to runway 05

A couple of worth catches on a quicky

Imagem
Today was a day with some interesting stuff, specially on behalf of Travel Service that made 4 flights to Madeira. Unfortunatelly only managed to get one of the Travel Service flights in a quick stop at the airport... Despite having been here some times, the Smartwings OK-SWV B735 is allways a great catch for the colors and for the not so usual model at Madeira... OK-SWV from Smartwings entering stand Alpha 03, where it will stay for a  few days... The other nice catch was the Belgium Thomas Cook OO-TCP " Kabouter Plop". I knew it had came to Madeira but wasn't expecting it still around here when I got there...looks like there were some serious delays..... The A320 from Thomas Cook Belgium had still a lot of stuff around and I couldn't manage to wait to get cleared....

New Photo of the Week - MD-80

Imagem
Once again, none of my late pics deserved the " Photo of the Week " (been geeting some really crappy pics lately...) so, went some older pics and decided for this one.... After all, I have very few MD's on my portfolio and a take-off like this is allways worth remembering... FlyNordic MD-83 SE-RDV on a late take-off from runway 23... By the way...curious about its location now? It's been getting quite a life since '87.. Check it HERE

How quickly can you turn?

Imagem
There's this spotting place right before runway 05 treshold that I really enjoy for some different pics specially if it's a big bird like in THIS  Air Berlin's A330. Anyway, because they pass over you real low and real fast, the best way to get some nice shots is to choose a direction and shot the plane like that but...you allways try to get all the angles...front, after... well...how quick can you turn?.... Condor A320 D-AICD in short final to runway 05 getting right over runway 05 threshold...
