Planes and stuff

 This week, we got some losses...(aviation related...): The shutting of Great Dane Airlines.... (Embraer 190LR OY-GDA at Madeira, in March 2020. Check more Great Dane pics, HERE ) The last Tui Airways flight with the B757... (B757 G-OOBD landing at Porto Santo (PXO/LPPS), with Thomson titles, back in September 2014) and the last flight of Alitalia (now being replaced by ITA Airways as the new flag carrier)... (A320 EI-IKL at Barcelona, back in 2019)

A strange year, 2020 hadn't many moments worth highlighting, at Madeira Airport... Still, there were a few... On January got my last shots on a Norwegian Air Shuttle (and most probably the last ones ever...) (Check HERE ) On February, Great Dane made its first flight to Madeira, with the Embraer 195LR OY-GDA (check HERE ): Also on February another highlight from Denmark...Danish Air Force C-130 with United Nations titles. (Check HERE ) On March, Eurowings provided us a couple of nice catches... A320 D-ABDQ with the Europa Park livery (check HERE ) and D-ABDU, with the Hertz livery (check HERE ): This summer, the firefighting helicopter was a Wucher Helicopter one... Check HERE On October, Luxair brought us, for the first time, its special livery on LX-LGU (check HERE ) On December, a couple of highlights... TAP brought us, for the first time, its new retro livery plane, A321NEO CS-TJR. Check HERE The other (and one of the highlights of the year) was Wizz Air first flight to Madeira...

On the last days, Europe has been shutting down due to the Covid-19 and Madeira is also taking more hard measures regarding the movement of people, on the island and to the island. Currently (at the time of this writing) there are still no confirmed cases of Covid-19 but a lot of thinks are getting shut on an effort to keep it like that (not likely..) or at least prevent a worst case scenario... Denmark is also one of the countries that will be shutting its frontiers. Great Dane was the only new airline coming to Madeira this winter and despite it made today's flight, from Aalborg, I guess next week it won't be coming and the traffic at the airport will not be the same as in this week's pic.... Yesterday we had the first flight of Great Dane Airlines to Madeira. A flight from Aalborg, carried in one of the airlines Embraer (OY-GDA, an Embraer 195LR) Arrived by the end of the afternoon, on runway 23 A nice saturday afternoon apron.... Refueling...didn't wait for the departure, as the sun light was already gone and a bit of rain was coming...
