Planes and stuff

  Looks like CSA - Czech Airlines filles for bankruptcy.. (ver AQUI , em PT)... There is still hope on the restructuring but, usually we all know how it ends.... Anyway, shot of the week for the premiere of CSA at Madeira, back in 2005, with A321 OK-CEC...the best of luck for the airline and specially for all its employees.... Was pretty sure I had already shared the shots of its premiere at Madeira on the blog but...looks like I hadn't...

Was looking on my files for a nice older pic to share with Aviation Faded Glory group when I came across this one, back from 2007, of the premiere of Fischer Air Polska at Madeira. B752 SP-FVR beeing saluted by the airport fire department, with a very nice rainbow The plane is currently flying as a freighter, with Federal Express, N884FD The airline was rebranded as Prima Charter and aparently closed in 2008...(looking at the internet, it looks like it was already Prima Charter when it came to Madeira, altough the plane still had FischerAir titles...

A few days ago, Jorge posted a pic on Aviação Portugal Fórum that remembered me a very interesting night a couple of years ago. It was something you don't get to see many times: a night bath ceremony. The event: celebrating the last flights of a PGA capt. that was going to retire. The flights to Madeira and the return to Lisbon would be its lasts (as an airline pilot). The pics...well, not many great spotting pics but definitelly some diferent pics and night well spent. While the guys were getting ready (a well known madeirean spotter on top of the stairs of an handling company that is already gone), the plane is already on the circuit (notice the long-exposition of the lights of the plane, on the low background). Last 25th June, Binter made an importante marketing operation around here: It baptized one of its ATR-72 after our island: "Madeira". The plane: EC-KGJ , oposite to what some press said is not a new plane (it's not old...but it's not brand new and it's not even new on the airline...) The plane was received on arrival with a salute bath, from the Airport's Fire Department. The first time I saw a "bath" on a propeller plane...nice effect on the propeller blades... A salute from the F/O to the Madeira Spotters Arriving at the stand Alpha 5. Exceptionally was parked by side. Ususally it parks by nose in (as every other plane) and pushes back reversing engines... Preparing the things... As you can see, by the door, it's operated by Naysa, also in red, on the back, the alert for the position of the flight recorders... aka Black Boxes. Ready for the cerimony.
