Planes and stuff

This week Condor said good-bye to its Boeing 757 with a special farewell flight carried by D-ABOM between FRA-VIE-FRA. Condor's B753 were quite an interesting sight around Madeira, for many years...so this deserves a special post with some photos taken over the years... D-ABOB D-ABOM, more HERE D-ABOE, the only 757 cockpit I ever went. 20 years ago, hope everything is running smooth with Capt. Eric Altendorf. Still one of the best welcomes I had. D-ABOI, more HERE D-ABOJ, more HERE Willi, D-ABON, more HERE D-ABOC, more HERE D-ABOA These were really special planes and definitely will be missed around here.

Condor B753 D-ABON with the Willi special livery departing from runway 05, back to Dusseldorf

First Condor blue I got and it was also the first B753 I got in the new livery...after quite some time, this was the return of Condor B753 to Madeira...allways nice to see one of these here... D-ABOI departing from runway 23, back to Dusseldorf

Yesterday we got, for the first time, Icelandair's Aurora special livery...and what a beauty it is.... B757 TF-FIU arriving from Faro on 05 For the departure to Reykyavik, made a bit of a bad choice on the spot....it was on the right spot for the rotate but it was quite dark... saw some pics of the plane linning up at runway 05 for the take-off and it had a great light, with the sun shinning.... getting finally some sun, far away....

 Long time no see Willi..... Condor B753 D-ABON, arriving at Madeira's runway 05, from Frankfurt.... And the departure... The sun totally missed the meeting....

From last year (June), a couple of shots of  Tui Airways B752 G-OOPB that I had taken and never published... Curiously, this plane already has another "life", beeing converted to freighter and about to enter service with CargoJet Airways, as C-GCJB The only other pics I had published of this bird was still with Thomson titles...

 Went to the airport for the arrival of an USAF C-21 (check HERE) and managed to get Jet2 B757 G-LSAJ...it's been quite a long time since I last got one of these.... Taxiing for the departure to Manchester...

Quite a long time since I last got a Jet2 B752.... G-LSAE arriving, last week...

Yesterday we had a really nice afternoon of special liveries....3 of them, including 2 new liveries (the 3rd I alread had got but some of the other spotters, hadn't...) Icelandair's B757 TF-FIR, with the 80 Years of aviation livery was definitely the most special one...Icelandair flights are not usual around here and as far as I know, it was the first time we got a special livery, specially a beautifull one like this.... Unfortunatelly, didn't get the arrival and for the departure tried a spot where I could get some more "secure" photos and, with luck, some airborne photos...ended up with no luck for the airborn photos but, at least, got some usable with the push back...  Today we got another B753, from Condor and, if getting a B753 wasn't rare enough these days, it was D-ABON, carrying the Wir Lieben Fliegen Livery. Some time before the landing, runway in use changed from 05 to 23.... With sun, would be more interesting for the take-off but not that much for the landing... The sun was a bit shy.... Condor A321 D-AIAF starting the taxi to runway 23, while D-ABON was taking off... at the arrival...taxiing to the gate... Departure from runway 23, back to Hamburg...

From the begining of the month, a few shots of the departure of Privilege B752 EC-HDS, in one of its Reveillon charters... This day, went for just 3 or 4 planes and missed the right take off on both the departures... went for a spot and the Sata took off too late...moved for another spot and this Privilege took off too early...oh well.... Push back to runway 23 and up and away....

Back to publishing after a while away from the computer.. Easyjet A320 OE-IJK after arriving from Porto, on runway 23, with Privilege B752 EC-HDS and Corendon B738 9H-TJB on the stands

 Was checking some earlier pics from this year and found a few shots that I still hadn't processed, back from June on what should be the last B757 I got from Tui Airways before the airline retired the model... G-OOBP, arriving from Manchester...

 This week, we got some losses...(aviation related...): The shutting of Great Dane Airlines.... (Embraer 190LR OY-GDA at Madeira, in March 2020. Check more Great Dane pics, HERE ) The last Tui Airways flight with the B757... (B757 G-OOBD landing at Porto Santo (PXO/LPPS), with Thomson titles, back in September 2014) and the last flight of Alitalia (now being replaced by ITA Airways as the new flag carrier)... (A320 EI-IKL at Barcelona, back in 2019)
