...Sata was making the inter-island flights with the British Aerospace ATP :)

It was those kind of planes that (in my opinion) was really ugly but definitely makes some memories :)
CS-TGX taxiing to runway 05 for the trip to Porto Santo.
Since then, Sata had the Dash Q200 on this route, beeing replaced by Aerovip, with the Dornier 228 and the BAe Jetstream.
Currently the route is beeing made (since June) by Binter, with the ATR-72

Recordando o ATP

Week Photo: Farewell to the ATP

Looks like West Air Europe's ATP last cargo flight to Madeira was made last week.
Next week we should have another company/plane carrying through the daily cargo flights between Lisbon and Madeira...

West Air Europe's LX-WAE ATP taking off from runway 23 to Lisbon.
Still one of my fav pics of this plane...

On the day of Volotea's premiere (check HERE) there was also the departure of this german bizjet that had been around here for a couple of days: D-CHRC

on the back West Air Europe's BAe ATP LX-WAE was unloading the cargo from its daily flight from Lisbon.

West Air Europe

Despite it's a daily flight, it's allways nice to get some pics of the cargo West Lux (after all, this was only the second time I got it this year....)

Runway 23 was in use once more and despit the last take off as more interesting (check HERE), still was very good to see the old ATP getting up in the air....

West Air Europe cargo flights

When Sata got rid of its ATP's I thought it was the last time I'd seen those kind of birds around...
With the dayly cargo flights beeing made by West Air Europe, we've seen the ATP's return and with quite a change of registrations...

These were taken on the same day of the EH-101 (check HERE)

LX-WAV taxiing to runway 05

Looks like that tail as seen better days...

Early take off, from runway 05, to Lisbon

A bit of Saturday afternoon...

Yesterday, despite the crappy weather, decided to go to the airport, to get Lufthansa's D-AILU, the Jetfriends.com logojet...
Air Berlin's One World livery D-ABME was also on its way, from Munich...

When I got to the airport, a bit of sun was opening, just in time for the unexpected arrival of the cargo flight, West Lux (West Air Europe) ATP LX-WAV (first time I got this registration)

For the landing of Lufthansa's D-AILU, and despite the sun at Ponta de S.Lourenço, the weather was already getting a bit dark....

Short final to runway 23

Not too fancy but still diferent and more interesting than just the regular livery

On runway 23 treshold, there were a few tourists that didn't seem to be the usual spotter type but still couldn't resist to make a few shots on this spot...
(Easyjet's G-EZBJ landing on 23)

Lining up on 23....

CS-TNM, from TAP also lining up on runway 23

After this, the weather was getting real dark, so decided to forget the Air Berlin's One World and headed home....

West Air Europe

Looks like the choice of West Air Europe is to keep on the Lisbon-Madeira-Lisbon cargo route...

On the day of the premiere of "Hans" at Madeira, Condor's retro (check HERE), I also got some shots of the cargo ATP, with a bit of wind strugling on final to 05...

Memories - The white Cook and a few more memories

You realise your pics aren't that well organized when you take a really long time to find some pic...

Usually I hate white planes (fridges...) but some time ago, I remembered of a white Thomas Cook that I had photographed some years ago which looked quite nice, the problem was finding those pics...

Well finally got it. I still think this is a rather nice "fridge" and was the only time I caught one of these...

G-TCAC, a white Thomas Cook...
Browsing the other pics of the day, found some stuff worth remembering....
G-OOBJ, that is already on Thomson livery...

With the last one you realise that stuff really changes...
On the front G-SAAW, from FlyGlobespan, that went bankrupt.
On the push-back, G-BYAD, back then on Thomson, and now N901NV on service with Allegiant Air and finally old Sata's ATP CS-TGX, now replaced with the Q200 (and Q400)...

Getting the rudder back

A few days ago I wondered when would CS-TGL fly again?
Well, last Thursday, besides the interest of all the traffic that came to retrieve the passengers held by a few days of airspace closed due to the ashes, I had the luck to see the operation to mount the tail rudder back on CS-TGL.

Was told that it might leave tomorow to Ponta Delgada. If so, then these were the last pics I took of it, as tomorow I won't be going for sure to the airport....

Getting things ready behind the tail...

Meanwhile, just a few meters away, new generation of prop transportation was continuing the legacy of the old ATP...

When?....

When will it fly again?

Any news on the CS-TGL?

Domestic flights Premiere

Last March, 28th Transavia France made its premiere on domestic flights to Madeira.
It started the (Paris) Porto - Madeira - Porto (Paris) route.

A local newspaper stated that the first flight would be received by the Fire Dept. water canons so I decided to go to the area behind the apron...there would be plenty of days to photograph regular landings but a water canon "bath" is allways something special....

I got late and when I arrived at the area behind the apron, noticed that there wasn't going on any kind of movements from the Fire Dept. and realised that there wasn't gona be any "bath"...
Though of going for the landing but by then, the plane was already coming into final...no time for the landing...stayed there just for the record...planes slowly taxiing aren't really my favorites....
Landed on 23....

Lots of people on the balcony but at that time, TAP's A330 was preparing to depart to Caracas, which also brings a lot of people to the airport, for the last good-byes, so can't really tell if the Transavia brought many people to the airport...
Meanwhile, the Aeroclub's Piper was departing for a local flight...
(Looks like that door isn't fitting completly right....)
Old Sata's ATP was still waiting for the tail rudder....

Decided to wait for the departure of the A330 to Caracas but Transavia got ready first and departed back to Porto with an early take-off from runway 23....

And finnally, TAP departed to Caracas....

You can check a few more pics of the TAP's departure HERE, as it was already highlighted as Photo of the Week.
