Rejections @ Airliners.net

Yesterday got a few more shots rejected at Airliners.net.
They're getting more and more picky everyday and if the SBA was nothing really special, regarding quality, in my opinion, the Luxair's and the Sharan's were really nice ones...

Lately I've been sending less and less pics to Airliners, and I guess it's time to stop sending them at all, they sure won't miss my pics and I won't wast my time on them...
Have a few more on queue, if they're acepted, it's ok, if they're rejected, who cares....

Will keep uploading to Jetphotos and obviously the main point of upload is now this blog.
Hope you enjoy the pics and keep following the blog.

Luxair on 23

These were also taken on one of those last days of vacations.
Afternoon sun and runway 23 landings allways provide some great background for photos, specially with some nice livery like the Luxair one.

Looks like this was the first time this Year I got Luxair...have to check on that...

Luxair

Jorge called my atention today on a new plane to Luxair (info on Skyliner Aviation), so in lack of new traffic (still processing the pics from last monday, with a couple of nice catches, specially G-OOBA, with new colors, Thomson ones, and winglets...) decided to share some Luxair pics, remembering old and new colors...

The next two are definitely my favorites on this airline:
Taking off from runway 23, in the afternoon...

Landing on runway 23, on the afternoon...

Taking off from runway 23 in bad weather...This is the only pic I have published on paper for this airline:

Still old colors and another take off from runway 23 on the late afternoon...

New colors landing on runway 05 by the afternoon...

and taking off, from runway 05, also on the afternoon...

Want to know how to get into these locations? Have a look at Madeira Spotters Webpage...it's mostly there.

New Photo of the Week - One for the smaller birds

This week's photo will be dedicated to smaller birds.
No special reason at all, was just browsing my photos, searching for some interesting photo when I noticed this one:

It's a pic I really enjoy, I like the framing and colors. I also find the livery (specialy the tail) of this little bird a very nice one!
Besides this one, on that day, also got a couple more pics of 2 litle birds with some meaning:
This shot of CS-AYY must be one of my best and favorite bizjets photos.

And on that day, also got the gone CS-DIR on one of its flights...

Regarding the airliners, there were a few nice catches on that day, but as this post is dedicated to small birds, I'll just share this one, of last week's Photo of the Week, still on the old colors...

June, 29th afternoon traffic

Last Monday (29th, June) was one of those great afternoons of spotting. In less than one hour and a half, there was some real nice traffic, great light and the least usual runway in use (23).

It was one of those days I was really happy with the results and considered it a well worth trip to the airport. The pics could be probably better (they allways can) but still took some of the best pics I've taken lately (in my opinion, of course) Runway 23, in the afternoon provides the light from the right direction and some great backrgound in landings and take-offs.

My daughter wasn't beeing very "cooperative" in the landings, so ended up staying in a place not so good, with a lot of photos out of focus or with light poles and other stuff in front of the planes...

Anyway, for the take-offs I went to usual place, behind the airport, which provides some nice backgrounds in runway 23 take-offs.

Couldn't manage any good pic of the landing of this Travel Service with Oman colors, but the ones from take off weren't that bad and it made the take off on the right place and not too soon, like the SAS.

Despite the good light there was a lot of areas of shadow alternated with areas of sun and some times was hard to get the plane in the sun...

An overview of the landing of TAP's CS-TNJ with Easyjet on the holding point of taxiway Bravo and Travel Service ready to taxi.

I guess Luxair was the star of the day for me. It was the plane of which I got the best pics, like the first one of this post and the one I chose as Photo of the Week. This one was taken just a second after the one of the Week and after a second look, I really do think this one's better than the other.

Like I said before, sometimes was hard to get the planes in sun areas. In this photo it still has some sun on the tail, but the rest of the pics got it allways on shadow areas...

Quite an early take off, from this SAS A319.

Last plane of the day for me, this Flyglobespan, almost entering taxiway Charlie, after landing on runway 23.

New Photo of the Week - Runway 23 afternoon take-offs

It's time for a new Photo of the Week.
Haven't seen today's shots in much detail but this one instantly called my atention.

Even thought of not going to the airport today but the fact of the Travel Service got delayed for around 17:30h and the fact of runway 23 being in use made my decision to go.

Later afternoon light is always the best at LPMA (in my opinion) and runway 23 is a lot less comon than runway 05 so it was the oportunity for getting some diferent shots.
Plus, the take-offs from runway 23 allways offer some great background (unless the planes make a really early take-off...)
In this case, the background was made by the sea with SAS's OY-KBP restarting its taxi, after holding off runway, on taxiway "Bravo".

SAS retro and Flyglobespan / Oman Air

So, here's the rest of the traffic for the Monday, 11th May.
As I said a very nice day for spotting with some really interesting traffic.
On the afternoon, besides the more interesting traffic, the sunlight was also better (on its location and quality).

In little more than half an hour there was a lot of traffic. Good, that's the way I like it, specially if I was supose to be "somewhere else" :))

Anyway, we had the SAS with retro livery, which is always a nice catch. Until now had only caught it once and the photos were real crappy...

This Flyglobespan returned back to its operator just a few days, after a lease to Oman Air and it's still wearing hybrid colors (very nice ones, be the way...)

Transavia, as usual, with the regular livery...no PH-XRA...

It made a bit of a longer and...

...quite a smoky landing...

And at this time, it even looks like its orange time with lots (for our kind of traffic) of Easyjets...

Luxair new colors is allways a nice catch. Much better looking than the old livery...
Right wheel touchdown

A bit of an overview.
The national airline showing Portuguese colors on the most internation day at LPMA:

All in all, some very nice moments with on a well worth quick trip to the airport...
