New Photo of the Week: 90 Years

Yesterday was celebrated the 90th Aniversary of the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic.

The achievement was made by two Portuguese airmen in 1922: Sacadura Cabral and Gago Coutinho.

The the first sucessfull flight between the mainland and Madeira was also made by these two airmen, the previous year (1921) as a test of the navigation technics developed by Gago Coutinho.

Eurodam estreia com flores

Ontem tivemos a estreia do Eurodam, da Holland American Line.

Uma estreia em plena Festa da Flor e no dia forte dessa mesma festa, com a saída do Cortejo da Flor na marginal do Funchal.

Ficam algumas fotos da saída do Eurodam (que decorreu durante o cortejo da Flor...estou certo que os passageiros teriam achado interessante o prolongamento desta escala por mais umas horas, a fim de poderem acompanhar o desfile)

While it doesn't come to Madeira (let's hope it's soon), here a few shots on last Tuesday Tuifly specials...

New Photo of the Week: A330 Season's Premiere

Today we got the first first A330 of the season from Air Berlin! (finally...)

D-AERQ just arrived at the stand, from Nurember (NUE) as seen with the samyang 8mm fish-eye (and Canon 300D)

Publicadas: Air & Cosmos

Recebi esta semana um par de cópias do nº 2306 da Air&Cosmos, uma revista semanal Francesa que utilizou uma das minhas fotos num dos seus artigos.

É sem dúvida uma das fotos minhas preferidas, que conjuga uma luz de final de tarde fantástica, com uma placa bem recheada (coisa que já não vemos por cá à tarde, desde há muito....) e com um par de companhias que entretando já fecharam as portas...
Para finalizar, o negrume das nuvens acaba por dar um contraste com o solzinho de final de tarde na placa que me agrada bastante...

C-GOAF da já extinta XL a taxiar para a 05, com um 737 da também já extinta  Palmair em fundo.
Outra nota para o 320 da Sata que ainda ostentava a pintura antiga desta companhia...

900km for a plane...

Sata's A310 CS-TKM is kind of a fridge but a good looking fridge :)
It has already came to Madeira at least a couple of times but I wasn't able to photograph it ...

Last week it came once more to Madeira but once again, I wasn't there to get it...
Fortunatelly I was at "Satalandia" :)) S.Miguel (LPD/LPPD) and what better place to get a Sata plane?

Didn't get it here at Madeira but finally managed to get it 900km from here, at its home base.

Had notice it taking off the previous day while I was downtow Ponta Delgada.
After some browsing, find out it was departing to Porto (OPO/LPPR) and returning that night.
On the next day, went by the airport before any of the schedulled flights that it might  made it and there it was... 

by the way... the road to Relva provides a great balcony over the airport
(and no fences to mess the pics....)

Icelandair

This week we had an Icelandair flight from Reykjavik (RKV/BIRK).
Unfortunately didn't manage to get it (TF-FIP) but, it's still a good oportunity to share a couple of pics of another B752 from Icelandair that I photographed back in 2009.
Madeira was then a stop for an Abercrombie & Kent special charter, caught here departing to Adis Ababa, Ethiopia.

O blog atingiu as 60.000 visitas, durante a semana passada.
Não costumo ligar muito a este tipo de estatísticas, até porque não sei até que ponto se a forma como são feitas é muito credível, de qualquer forma, por ser um número "jeitoso" e redondinho, é um bom motivo para  agradecer a todos aqueles que têm vindo a visitar este blog, espero que continuem a passar por cá e a gostar do que cá coloco.
Não gosto de fazer as coisas com sentido de obrigação pelo que, umas semanas com mais entradas, outras com menos, tentarei manter isto a andar, enquanto houver entusiasmo já que, quem corre por gosto não cansa...

Nova foto da Semana: Na final para a 30

Tinha planeado para a foto desta semana uma imagem referente à estreia a Edelweiss mas, acabei por não estar lá....
Paciência...confesso que depois também já não tive pachorra de ir à saída do avião...descolagens haverão outras..."banhos" é que não...

Na falta do Edelweiss, fica uma outra que me parece também interessante e que é igualmente daquelas que não tenho oportunidade de tirar todos os dias....

Os motores do Q400 da Sata proporcionam sempre algumas oportunidades interessantes.
No CS-TRD, na final para a pista 30, com a bela zona marginal da cidade à nossa direita.
