New Photo of the Week: IceJet Dornier 328

Sometimes, when you go back into the middle of your old archives, you can find some real treasures...

Back from February 2010, it was a real surprise for me finding this one...Didn't remember seeing this nice bird here, nor had processed any pics of it...

(Also...interesting to see that the weather was really nice...15 days later, the sky itself would fall over Madeira with a storm that made lot's a dead people and a lot of destruction on the island, after raining consistently over a few days...looks like it hadn't started yet...)

Couldn't find any recent pics of this plane...anyone knows where it is now?

The smaller ones

Sometimes, no matter how many heavies you have around, the smaller birds are the ones that caught your attention...
The Dornier 328 is a very rare bird around here. The airlines (which I had never heard before) colors are also quite nice, so it immediately called my attention...
(still, was nice to have a 747F on the back... :)  )
Pic taken trough the glass....
According to their page, they have 3 of these and another 3 Saab 2000

The Nordic British Airways

The last time I saw British Airways around here was when GB was sold to Easyjet...
GB was the British Airways representation at Madeira and with that sell no more those colors were seen around.

It seemed like it would stay like that for many more years but after all, the BA blue and red colors came earlier than expected and being weared by a quite unexpected plane...

With a Danish registration, operated by Sun Air of Scandinavia and bringing the Swedish soccer team  BK Hacken with an overall coat of the BA colors,  it's definitely what I call a Nordic Brithish Airways...

The Dornier 328 (Do.328)  is not a usual plane here at all. We probably get one or (in a good year) two of those around here and usually Air Ambulances from ADAC, so you can understand all the rush around this traffic...

The Swedish team is coming to Madeira to play the first hand of an European Football (Soccer) competition with regional club C.D.Nacional

over runway 05 treshold with some nice reflections of the runway on the fuselage and engines...

The time of the day hasn't the best sunlight but you got to work with what you have and try for the best....
Will probably be departing next Friday, around lunch time.

Still on the apron was the Air Nostrum CRJ-900 that suffered a birdstrike yesterday and had to be grounded for an engine repair.
Don't really know if it's already fixed or not but seemed like the damage wasn't that bad....

Welcome Air

Tonight we had a rare visitor which stayed for the night.

These Do.328 from Welcome Air had been here for a few times but I still hadn't managed to get any.

It's a very nice plane (a diferent one...) with a colorful livery, which beats any white fridge looking plane...

Do328

This week we had for a quick scale a Do.328, from Tyrol Air Ambulance.
Registration OE-GBB

Too bad I didn't get it. The Do.328 is a rare bird around here and the prop version of it even more. Also a very colorful livery.

The more usual Do.328 we have around here (and it isn't that usual) is the ADAC Air Ambulance which I only got once, back in 2006 (jet version)
