New Photo of the Week - Sea Fury @ PAS2009

Imagem
More than time for a new Photo of the Week. As it would be expectable, it's regarding Portugal Air Show 2009. It was definitly disapointing and the stars of the Show were this amazing Hawk Sea Fury, which made more than its part to save the Air Show with some great displays and the Spanish Air Force display team " Patrulla Águila ", on Sunday. I'm preparing a big a post on the display of this team but still a few more pics to process and today I've decided to call it a day, regarding pics... Going for S10E1 of CSI...

PAS2009 - Landing at Lisbon

Imagem
One of the most amazing stuff of going to this year's edition of the Portugal Air Show was the fact that I made, for the first time ever, a landing on the cockpit. The return flight was even more amazing with a full flight on the cockpit and night landing at LPMA's runway 05 with a fantastic crew. Indeed amazing moments! Many thanks to those that made this possible! (and good for that because the Air Show was quite a disappointment...) Anyway, on the FNC-LIS flight got into the cockpit a few moments before we start our descent. The weather was quite cloudy and with little visibility and light rain over Lisbon. The runway in use, was the unusual 21 which provided a little more flight time and a few more curves... (no complains on that LOL)

Just testing the pics inserting....

Heavy rain for Transavia...

Imagem
Last Sunday got the info that the monday afternoon Transavia would be a special livery, the PH-HZL. Finally Transavia was bringing some special livery to Madeira... They failed to bring the PH-XRA with its amazing livery (and still after it changed to another special livery, it also didn't come, altough they brought some other 737-700...) Anyway made a quick trip to the airport for getting the Transavia. The sky was real dark when I arrived and runway 23 was in use. SAS (retro painting) was over the VOR and entering final when the heavy rain and clouds got around the plane and we lost sight of it for a few moments before seeing it aborting the approach and turning in direction to FUSUL. Started raining a lot with no visibility for quite a while. SAS and Transavia went to holding and Transavia started asking about the METAR at Porto Santo...crap, I had litle time to wait and it probably would divert to Porto Santo.... Finally the visibility started improving but still was raining a

Last Monday - Part 2

A few more shots of last monday... It will be interesting to see the other side photos, taken by the inside spotter...lol This afternoon, the SAS is again the retro (OY-KBO) and Transavia is speciall livery (PH-HZL) (FINALLY!!! some special livery by Transavia around here...let's see if I can go there...)

New Photo of the Week - Rotores @ PAS2005

Imagem
Well, less than one week for this year's edition of Portugal Air Show , at Évora. More info: http://www.portugalairshow.com/ Despite the canceling of Asas de Portugal, it seems like it will be an interesting edition, specially due to the participation of the Sea Fury , the P-51 Mustang and the An-2 . I'm definitely an old birds and propeller man and this kind of planes are surely more interesting (for me) than any other "flamer"... (One of the Air Shows I'd still like to go is Duxford Flying legends ...) Let's see how will this edition be... This Week's photo is from 2005 Edition, the display of " Rotores de Portugal ", PoAF Helicopter display team. Back then they still wore full camuflage livery. By the way, for all my followers from Madeira, tomorow's afternoon Transavia should be an interesting catch!... (and if turns out to be a normal one, don't blame it on me...lol)

Update on the delayed Tuifly

Imagem
Jorge called my attention for the reason of the delay of yesterday morning's Tuifly . Looks like the guys had a troubled beggining of holliday's on the take-off and on the windy landing...let's hope they can have a resting vacations...lol Check the event at AV Herald

Today I went to the airport side of the island and on the going and on the return made some quick stops and managed to get 3 interesting planes... This Neos comes on regular basis to Porto Santo but it's very irregular on the trips to Madeira. Despit beeing another Tui blue plane it's not a very usual airline so, it's a nice catch (but I would go to the airport just for it...) Lining up on runway 05, before departing to Milan, Malpensa Airport. This one was a surprise! Noticed a military convoy in front of me on their way to the airport and was convinced that it would be arriving an Air Force C-130. Well...I went on my affairs and returned and they were still waiting at the airport's ramp door... They must have been there waiting for about 1:30h... (g'anda seca...) So much for schedulles... Anyway the plane was finally arriving with callsign "Portugal 37" and it wasn't a C-130... it was a C-295! This Tuifly was right behind the C-295 (with a big delay.

Monday afternoon - 1

Imagem
Like I said on the previous post, last Monday was had a great afternoon of spotting. Good traffic in little time and a great afternoon light. Still wasn't this time we had a special livery from Transavia... The Cimber Sterling (from Copenhagen) had about 4 hours delay, which was great for me (not so good for the passengers...) as allowed me to photograph it and arrived with great afternoon light, instead of the awfull mid-day strong light (actually I thing that at the schedulled time it was dark, cloudy and with litle shower rain...) Anyway, a diferent registration from last week but still with Sterling livery. Maybe next week we get a Cimber Sterling livery... About to leave. Holding short of runway 05. Waiting for the departure of Transavia. Was almost forgeting this one, allways a well worth catch as the 735 is a very rare bird around here (also didn't expect to see Palmair livery around here anymore, after European bankrupt) FlyGlobespan is one of those that's allways n

New Photo of the Week - Easy...

Imagem
Time for a new pic of the week. Today at the end of the afternoon went for some spotting and it was one of those great spotting days with lots of great traffic on little time and a very nice afternoon sunlight (and after changing a little bit the location, a few other spotters to talk a little bit...) This Easyjet got a little wind on final with pilot making some corrections. While this is not the shot were the wind effects are more visible I really like the way the plane looks high above ground and with an angle like if I was flying in formation with it...

Sharing some music...

While processing the last photos on the Belair 767, was listening some of my favorite, from several groups/artists... My musical tastes goes from classical to heavy metal passing through regular "commercial" music... One of those I was listening was one of my favorite songs from what used to be my favorite band...Nightwish... (Used to be my fav. when Tarja was the singer...definitely the Nightwish + Anette (new singer) is less my kind of music...) This video's from their last concert with Tarja as a singer... Got curious and searched the same song with Anette singing...Argh...awfull, she definitely shouldn't try to sing songs that were obviously written for Tarja...

Belair 767

Imagem
767 are quite rare around here (well, at least they used to be...now we have a weekly SBA 767 from Caracas, on Saturdays and will became 2 weekly flights) Belair colors are also very rare. These two combined...are rarer on the double...lol Last week, we had a 767 from Belair making an Air Berlin flight from Zurich. When we knew it was already too late to photograph it. This week we were already paying atention to that flight. Anyway, couldn't manage to get landing... So, the rest of the pics... Registration and notice the skid...trail strike prevention? Pushing back.... Double lettering (Belair / Air Berlin) Taking off from runway 05 to Zurich. This one's made me spend more time than usual on post-processing...LOL

Still around...

Imagem
This morning went to the airport to photograph Belair's (Air Berlin) 767. D-AAAZ was still around, so got the oportunity for some close-up's...

The King's plane

Imagem
Finally I get these online... It's the photos I managed to took from the Spanish Air Force A310 that brought the Kings of Spain to the visit to our Archipelago. They stayed a couple of days at Madeira and then came to Porto Santo, for a quick visit and lunch, before leaving. Was expecting this one as I had missed the day they made the trainings at Madeira and never had photographed a military A310... Very short final to runway 36... Some local ocasional spotters... Cleared for take off...
